CHAPTER FIVE: THE REUNION.

Sophia stood in front of the company, holding her files tightly to her chest. The glass doors reflected her face. For a moment, she just stared at herself. “Am I really going to do this?” she whispered. Her heart was beating fast, and her hands were shaking. She tried to stay calm, but it wasn’t easy. She couldn’t afford to fail this interview. “Relax, you’ll be fine,” Daniel said beside her. Sophia nodded slightly. “I hope so.” She took a deep breath and pushed the door open. She had no idea her past was waiting for her inside. As soon as she entered, she saw other candidates waiting. Some were sitting quietly. Others were going through their files. The room was silent. Sophia swallowed hard. “Am I really going to get this job?” she thought. “These people look more qualified than me…” “I really need this job,” she whispered to herself. “I can’t afford to lose this.” Suddenly, people began to stand up. Sophia frowned. “Why is everyone standing?” she wondered. The atmosphere changed immediately. Before she could understand what was happening… Adrian walked in. Sophia’s eyes widened. “What… is that Adrian?” she whispered. He looked different. More powerful. More serious. More distant. The moment their eyes met… Sophia froze. Adrian stopped walking. For a second, everything around them disappeared. “Is that… Sophia?” Adrian said quietly to himself. Sophia’s hands began to shake. Her heart raced. “Oh God… why now?” she thought. Adrian quickly looked away, his face returning to its usual calm expression. He acted like nothing had happened. But inside, he was shocked. “How did she get here?” he wondered. Then his eyes moved slightly… And he saw Daniel standing behind her. His expression darkened. “So… she moved on?” he thought. “That fast?” A quiet anger rose inside him. Without saying anything, Adrian turned and walked straight to his office. “Miss Sophia?” a voice called. She stood up immediately. “Yes, that’s me.” “Please, come in.” Sophia took a deep breath and walked into the interview room. Then she froze. Her heart skipped. Sitting across the table… going through a file like it was just another normal day… Was Adrian. He looked up. Their eyes met again. Silence. Thick. Heavy. Uncomfortable. Slowly, Adrian closed the file and leaned back. His expression was unreadable. “Miss Blake,” he said calmly, almost too calm. “Have a seat.” Sophia sat down slowly. Both of them pretended not to know each other. But inside… they were breaking. “Let me see your file,” Adrian said. Sophia handed it over gently. Adrian flipped through the pages. “Hm… good grades,” he said. Sophia sat quietly, her fingers shaking slightly. She really needed this job. Adrian stayed silent for a moment. Sophia became nervous. “Are my qualifications not good enough?” she asked softly. Adrian didn’t answer immediately. He took a slow breath. Then he looked up at her. “You’re hired.” Sophia’s eyes widened in shock. “But,” Adrian added coldly, “I’ll be monitoring your work closely.” He paused. “I need to be sure you don’t take anything that doesn’t belong to you.” The words hit hard. Sophia felt it immediately. She understood what he meant. Her chest tightened.
