Sophia stood in the rain, her clothes getting wet, but she didn’t move.
Her mind was full.
Her heart was louder than the rain.
“I still love him… but I’m scared,” she whispered.
She held her phone tightly.
“I don’t want to get hurt again.”
At that same moment, inside the office…
Adrian stood by the window, staring at the rain.
He could see Sophia outside.
Standing alone.
Not moving.
His chest beat faster.
“Why is she still standing there?” he said to himself.
Without thinking, he grabbed his coat and rushed out.
“Sophia!” he called.
She turned slowly.
Their eyes met again.
Rain fell between them.
Adrian walked closer.
“Why are you standing here in the
rain?” he asked softly.
Sophia looked at him.
“I didn’t know where to go,” she replied.
There was silence.
Then Adrian spoke again.
“I meant what I said,” he said. “I still love you.”
Sophia’s eyes filled with tears.
“I know… but I’m scared, Adrian.”
“Scared of what?” he asked.
“Your world… your family… your mother,” she said.
Adrian took a deep breath.
“This time… I won’t let anyone come between us.”
Just then…
A voice interrupted.
“Adrian.”
They both turned.
Vanessa was standing there, holding an umbrella.
She looked at them quietly.
Then she walked closer.
“I think I understand now,” she said softly.
Adrian frowned. “Vanessa—”
She shook her head.
“You don’t have to explain,” she said. “I can see it.”
“So this the reason why you have been avoiding me. “
You know _ for a moment I thought what we had was real.
But now I can see for myself.
“Vanessa” Adrian called.
I love you but as a friend and nothing more.
Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend , and you watched me grew feelings for you.
I can explain _ don't vanessa cut Adrian.
“I don't need any of your explanation keep it to yourself. “
I'm sorry if I have led you on .
I didn't mean to .Adrian said.
It okay Adrian I understand. You don't need to apologize to me okay.
She looked at Sophia.
“He never looked at me the way he looks at you.”
Sophia was surprised.
Vanessa gave a small smile.
“I was just… hoping. But now I know.”
She stepped back.
“I wish you both happiness.”
Then she turned and walked away.
Before they could say anything else…
Another voice came.
“Adrian!”
They turned again.
It was Mrs. Cole.
She walked toward them, her face serious.
Sophia’s heart dropped.
“Not again…” she whispered.
Mrs. Cole stopped in front of them.
She looked at Sophia.
Then at Adrian.
There was a long silence.
“I was wrong,” she said suddenly.
Adrian looked shocked.
“What?” he asked.
Mrs. Cole took a deep breath.
“I thought I was protecting you,” she said. “But I was hurting you instead.”
She turned to Sophia.
“I judged you without knowing you.”
Sophia stayed quiet.
“I see now… you are not what I thought,” Mrs. Cole continued.
She looked at Adrian.
“If she is the one who makes you happy… then I won’t stand in your way anymore.”
Adrian couldn’t believe it.
“Mom… are you serious?” he asked.
Mrs. Cole nodded slowly.
“Yes.”
Sophia’s eyes filled with tears again.
Thank you so much… this means a lot to me. Sophia said.
You don't have to thank me I should be the one thanking you.
“You are a good girl and I'm sorry for everything.”
Just then, Daniel ran toward them.
“Sophia!” he called.
He stopped when he saw Adrian.
He looked between them.
“Are you okay?” he asked Sophia.
Sophia nodded.
“I’m fine.”
Daniel looked at Adrian.
Then smiled slightly.
“Take care of her this time,” he said.
Adrian nodded.
“I will.”
And thanks to you man for everything.
For what? Daniel replied.
For taking care of her when I couldn't.
It nothing man you don't have to bother.
Daniel stepped back.
“That’s all I wanted.”
The rain had started to slow down.
Everything felt calm.
Like the storm had passed.
Adrian turned to Sophia
.
Slowly… he brought out a small ring box.
Sophia’s breath caught.
“Adrian…” she whispered.
He opened it.
This time, there was no crowd.
No pressure.
Just the two of them.
“Sophia,” he said softly, “I don’t want a perfect love.”
“I just want a real one… with you.”
He knelt down.
“Will you give me a second chance?”
Sophia’s tears fell freely.
She smiled through them.
For a moment, she said nothing.
Then she nodded.
“Yes… I will.”
Adrian slipped the ring onto her finger.
He stood up.
And pulled her into a gentle hug.
Mrs. Cole watched quietly.
Then she smiled a little.
Vanessa, from a distance, also smiled before turning away.
Daniel nodded to himself and left.
For the first time in a long time…
Everything felt right.
