Luke grabs my hand and leads me to a room back down the hall. He opens the door and lets me go in ahead of him. It's just as amazing as the rest of the rooms I've seen. It feels empty though. Like a bedroom in a showhome. No personal touches. I see a king bed to my right with matching side tables. Across from me are french doors leading to a balcony that looks out on the garden. To my left are two doors and inbetween those is a desk. I open the first door and see a walk thru closet that heads into a bathroom. An empty closet. That confirmed it. This wasn't our room it was my room. Alone. I feel a pit settle in my gut. Was I supposed to be his wife or did he just not want me to be Set's?
"Do you like it?" Luke asks from the door with a smile.
"Ya it's great." I say with a hint of disappointment. "Just feels a bit empty."
"Oh well once your stuff gets here from Anaya and we bring my stuff back up from my office it'll feel more like home. We can always go to the market tomorrow and get anything you'd like to make it ours." Luke then walks over to the other and opens it. I hang my head and give it a shake. Inside was another closet. Full of mens clothes. It was our room and I had assumed different based on my own insecurities.
Luke turns around and gives me a puzzled look. "Is something wrong?" he asks.
"No, for some reason I thought this was just my room." I answer, feeling stupid.
"Oh did you want your own room? I should've given you an option I'm sorry. I can stay......" I cut him off with a kiss. He froze and then I realized this was our first kiss. I go to pull away but he wraps an arm around my back pulling me closer to him, deepening the kiss. I relaxed melting into the kiss. As we break our kiss I here a sigh come Luke.
"I'm sorry." I say taking a step back. I couldn't tell what kind of sigh that was and I was again second guessing everything.
"Oh don't you dare." He says with a cheeky smirk, pulling me back into him, my hands on his chest.
"I want this to be our room." I whisper as I lean into his chest and he wraps me in a deeper hug, resting his head on mine.
"Good. So do I." We stay like this for a while. Just enjoying the warm, calmness coming over me.
*knock knock*
"Am I interrupting?" An unfamiliar voice comes from the open door. I turn to see a man I haven't seen before.
"Ya, you are. Larissa this is Zach." Luke gestures to the man, shooting him a look I can't decipher.
"Yes....I'm Zach. It's nice to meet you. Luke won't shut up about you." Zach mocks with a smirk. Luke shoots daggers at him.
"I wish I could say the same. But I look forward to getting to know you. Do you live here too?" I ask.
"Zach lives in the guest house out back." Luke answers instead. "He is an awful roommate." They both laugh as if it's some sort of inside joke. "Did you need something?" Luke asks with a sneer.
"Oh no, I just wanted to meet the wifey." Zach says with a wink. "Also someone is at the gate asking for you."
"Who?" Luke asks.
"Someone I'd rather not deal with." Zach replies before leaving without a chance for a reply from Luke.
"I'll go see who it is. You should have a rest. I'll be back in a few minutes." Luke kisses me on the top of my head and leaves the room.
I head over to the french doors and head out onto the balcony. The smell of roses hits my nose and the feel of sunshine on my face relaxes me. I felt happy and content with the current state of things, which somehow sent a shiver down my spine. Just then clouds cover the sun causing darkness to creep in heightening my anxiety and stealing some of my peace.
The wind starts picking up so I quickly head inside locking the doors closed behind me just as a bolt of lightning hits some where in the garden. Startled I decided to leave the room and find Luke, Zach or anyone at this point. I head downstairs and look in the kitchen and find no one. So I head to the front sitting room and I could see shadows coming from inside the room spilling out into the hallway. I stop just before the doorway as I could hear a heated conversation coming from it.
"You crossed a line, Luke." An unfamiliar voice said with an authoritative tone. "The council is still deciding whether you should be punished or not. Let me speak to her or I'll have no choice but to have you both taken up to Him."
"No, she doesn't know everything yet and I don't want to scare her. Please." I hear Luke reply. Pleading but still strong.
"I'll give you 24 hours. You better get her up to speed quick or I'll do it for you." I could hear footsteps coming towards the door and in a panic I froze. The man leaves the sitting room and catches me standing there out of the corner of his eye. Turning towards me he gives me a nod and leaves without a word.
Luke comes out after him and looks to where the other man had looked and saw me, his furrowed brow turned up inquisitively before he recognized I was standing there and it turned into a sort of somber look.
"Larissa." Luke steps towards me and reaches out to grab my hand. I let him take it and I can feel him relax. Did he think I was going to run? From what I heard I'm about to get alot of answers to questions I didn't ask.
"So what is it that's so scary that I can't know?" I asking with a bit of snark.
Luke's head drops and he shakes it with a slight chuckle. "There's so much you don't know that will scare you, my little human. It's going to take a bit." He looks at me and I give him a look of snarky condescension. "Fine, I'll have Zach bring us some drinks because we are going to need them."
