Winter
It's 6 in the evening and it's starting to get dark, all of the students are already preparing to go back to their dormitories even though the curfew is still at 10 pm. I'm glad EU agrees on my plan, we are on our way to the rooftop and ready to sneak in. The admin still prohibited the students to go to the rooftop where a student's end herself. But we have a plan so we can investigate and know if it's a simple suicide incident.
It is not easy to escape the guards that the Campus Police assign, they put so many guards on the stairway that only lead to the rooftop, the building was 4th floor and the rooftop was almost on the 5th floor in height. There was only one way to the rooftop and they even filled it with guards. EU and I were hiding at the back of the building near the stairs up to the rooftop.
"How can we sneak in?" EU's voice was filled with worries and all of his sweat was showing on his face. His glasses were also cover in moist, I bet he can't see clearly because of that.
He suddenly takes off his glasses and wipe it using his uniform and wear it again.
"We can climb the fire exit at the back of the building," I said in a low voice, making sure that no one will hear me.
"What? That's impossible, it was locked remember?" This is what annoying about him, he is too preceded by fear and sometimes lost all of the reasons why we are doing this. Yeah right, what was my reason for doing this stupidity that will only lead us for nothing? Why am I even doing this?
"Winter!" I snap when he tops my shoulder.
"Let's not interfere and just let the campus police to solve this case. Is that what you want EU?" I face him with a serious look. I don't know why I'm so engaged in solving this case but there's something I couldn't explain why I want to know the mystery behind this sudden suicide incident in our school. Maybe I was just affected by my dream but there is nothing wrong with trying to find out the secret behind this case if we will never get caught.
"Fine! We're already here so I might just follow your lead!" he surrenders.
"Why are you keep on checking your watch?" he keeps on asking while I was observing the movements of the guards. I notice that every 5 minutes they change the two guards and left without anyone to guard the stairs through the roof for 1minute and after that, two guards will come and guard it again for 5 minutes.
But we can't take that as a chance, what if they are just baiting some students that will sneak in like what we are doing right now? No, that wasn't safe at all!
"They change the guards every 5 minutes then they left the stairway unguarded by 1 minute!" I explain to EU while keep on looking at my watch.
"Then we can take a run and sneak in! That's our chance!" He suddenly moves and looks like he was ready to run for it.
"No, that wasn't safe, EU!" I told him with a scary look in my eyes.
"What was not safe about that?" Because of his haste, he loses time to think about his actions. He's being careless at this moment!
"I think that was bait. Some of the guards are watching from afar and waiting for someone to take their bait. Maybe the Police campus was thinking that if this is a frame-up suicide the culprit will go back to the crime scene and check if he or she didn't leave any traces of her or his crime that will pinpoint him or her!" I explain to my friend that I think because of nervous he was losing his skill in deducting the situation.
"Oh yeah!" I got startled when he slapped himself.
"What the heck are you doing?" I grab his hand worrying that he might hurt himself again.
"I'm okay, Winter. Sorry, I'm pretty nervous right now so my brain got clouded. I couldn't think right." his right chick started to get red. I let his hand go and observe the guards for one last time.
"Let's check if there is also some guards at the back of the building!" I said then I bent down and walked along the road to the back of the building like I was a spy in a movie. I stop when we reach the back of the building. I check if there's some guard but I saw no one. The back of the building was so dark that I could see that much.
It's already 7 in the evening but we still didn't reach the rooftop because of the tight security. Slowly my eyes adjusted in the dark and now I can see in the dark. "How can we unlock the fire exit?" EU whispered in my ears.
"I know how to do lock picking EU so just relax!" I assured him. Like were we did earlier we bent down while reaching the fire exit even though I'm sure that no guards were assigned to this part of the school. I stop when we reach it and I pulled some metal wire from my pocket and some hairpin. I inserted the metal wire on the keyhole and then put the hairpin and with just some click the padlock got unlock.
"Wow!" EU was now amazed at what I just did right now. I slowly open the door assuring that it won't make some noise that will attract some guards.
When I successfully opened it we immediately enter and I close the door. Darkness prevails around us and we can't see anything again. I can feel EU was starting to feel uncomfortable and he moves so much.
"Winter!" he whisper, I open the torch on my phone but EU immediately close his eyes, maybe he got dazzled by a sudden light.
The staircase emerges because of the light that coming from my phone. "We still have 2 hours before the roll call in our dormitories, we need to hurry!" I said and climb the stair very fast pacing as much as I can. I hope EU can keep up, we can't lose more time just climbing the stairs.
Once we reach the door on the rooftop I immediately open it and a light that comes from the full moon emerges. I turn off the torch of my phone and I look back for EU, he was now gasping for air. He's polo was half open.
"Let's start our investigation now!" I said!
