Walker stacked the empties into a box at the back door while Kate loaded up the dishwasher and stacked the pizza boxes on the kitchen counter.
“I want you to file for custody of the baby,” Kate said without turning around as she wiped the counter down with a sponge.
Walker strode toward Kate and rested his hip against the counter. She rinsed her hands under the water and then dried them on a towel, and she still hadn’t looked at him.
“Don’t think I missed the fact that you’ve worn a condom all week, but it may already be too late,” she said, this time looking up at him. He wasn’t sure what he was seeing in her expression.
“I was being selfish before and not being fair to you,” he said. “I should have talked to you, made sure you and I are on the same page…”
