"Santiago, don't tell me you are interested in my personal maid".
Lycan's voice came, vaguely tinged with anger, as he looked at Santiago with his hands folded across his chest.
Santiago laughed and said to Lycan.
"I was just curious, and decided to see what your personal maid looked like. And on seeing her, I must say you have a good taste". Santiago said to him, smiling.
"I just don't want people to get the wrong idea that you have some kind of an abnormal relationship with her". Lycan said to Santiago sternly, and not returning his smile and sarcasm.
"And you, you need not forget who you are here. Talking to other people around here at random will only make your intentions here questionable". Lycan said to me unpleasantly.
"I am sorry, sir". I said, bowing my head before him.
Without saying anything more to me, nor to Santiago who was still standing before him with a smile, that almost turned into a grin, Lycan turned and walked back into his room.
I stood there, still as I watched him closed the door, and their voices heard in a light argument; Santiago explaining in words I couldn't pick.
Did I do wrong?
But he was the one who came to me first, or shouldn't I have answered if someone spoke to me?
My stomach started churning.
"Tiffany, you let him go again! You should have taken the initiative and speak with him; he is our mate". Jada complained in my head.
"Listen Jada, I am just his personal maid; okay! Similarly put, I am just a slave to him. And it is completely a different thing from the mate you are talking about here. You heard him yourself; relationship with my kind is abnormal to him so he will never approve of us as his mate. So you might as well forget about it while you can".
The fact that Jada always considered Lycan and his wolf to be our companion annoyed me, and I spoke to her today in a heavy tone.
"I'm sorry Tiffany, I really should have taken your emotions into considerations too". Jada said in a very soft voice.
The next morning.
I went into Lycan's room to serve him his breakfast.
He was already up, and dressed in a black suit; all exuding a noble and elegant air, but with a bit of cold arrogance.
"After breakfast, you will be going with me to a meeting with the leader of the Ansett wolf pack". Lycan said to me as I wait upon him while he was having his breakfast.
"Do I need to prepare anything?". I asked.
"There is nothing to prepare, it is just a meeting. And you don't need to wear the maids cloth too; I will have the servants send a befitting cloth to you for the occasion. So go and get ready". Lycan said, still indifferently, and didn't even look at me. Just as if he was talking to the air.
"OK sir". I replied, turned around and walked away.
Just as arrived my room, Raka followed suit with the new clothes I was to wear today.
Throwing them on the chair in my room, and after eyeing me with disgust, she walked away.
I changed into my new cloths quickly, and standing before the mirror, I admired myself.
The colour of the long dress transitioned from blue and white, and the gauzy fabric fitted my figure perfectly; outlining my curves. The soft and light hemline of the dress fell just to my ankles, and as I tool a step forward in my heels, the hemline gently swayed and shone with a faint glow.
In the mirror, I looked like a mermaid who had just stepped ashore from the sea.
When I was ready, Lycan was already waiting in the car; a bit impatient.
After scolding me, in his usual way, he got into the Limo, gedturingbfor me to sit next to him as we journeyed together to the meeting with the Ansett family.
There had always being various kind of conflicts between packs and rogues, and wars were and had broken out between them on several if these conflicts. But those were like a farce.
The reason for this was probably because mist rogues were expelled, and marked as rogues, by Alpha wolves. And they were rejected, and disliked;even hated by other wolf packs.
I had once heard Luggard's werewolves said that they found the rogues disgusting. And that they almost never wanted to see rogues in their pack; saying it was a shame to them.
Rogues had always been oppressed by other wolves. And at some point, an alliance had appeared among them, and they began to fight against other wolves.
And rogues, who were looked down upon by other wolves, made the leader of the wolf pack feel tricky.
And this was why Lycan would go to see the head of the Ansett family to ask for their alliance against the rogues.
About an hour or so, we arrived at the Ansett family estate.
The style was more like a garden, compared to Lycan's villa, with beds of roses grown everywhere.
The scent of roses was all over in the air.
I suddenly remembered when my father was still alive, how he used to say that he had also planted a garden if roses; just to woo my mother.
He later left his original territory with the wolves, but the garden of roses was not taken with him. He also thought about replanting it, but being Alpha, he didn't have that much time again to plant a garden.
Until he died, while protecting me, the garden of roses was not planted.
He probably would be regretting that now wherever he is.
"Tiffany, what are you gawking at?!". Lycan's stern and cold voice pulled me out from my thought, and I realized I was standing, staring at the bed of roses.
"Oh, it's nothing really; I was just admiring the rose garden".
"It is time to go in for the meeting, you are expected to be your best behaviour while out here. And, just for the record, your parents are here too; Isabella your mother, and your stepfather Luggard Winston-Salem". Lycan said.
My mother and my stepfather came too? But he didn't tell me we will be meeting them here?
Or, was that why he had me change into something more acceptable; something that wouldn't hurt my parents feelings?
No, I don't think so. Lycan does not look like the type that care about people's feelings to me. He may have had some other reasons for this.
I thought in all these things as Lycan led me towards the lobby. And just as I walked into the hall, I saw my mother Isabella, and Luggard, and Santiago Perez, Lycan's friend that spoke with me the other day.
Next to Santiago was a middle aged man, supposedly his father, who looked very serious.
"You will only be free to move around after the meeting is over. But until then, you stayed by my side". Lycan said, almost in a whisper as we walked in together like a couple.
Only that he was not holding my hand as couples should.
As my eyes caught with my mother's eyes, she smiled, and nodded to me in greeting and I responded in the same.
There was a circular table in the middle of the hall, capable of seating dozens of people at the same time.
But, my mother and stepfather; Isabella and Luggard Winston-Salem, was not seated at the circular table. Because they were the leaders of the weaker Dusk Moon pack, they had to sit a little farther away from the other stronger leaders.
The main seat was occupied by Lycan and his father, Herlbert, as well as Santiago and his father Salvador Perez. Extending in this order, to the sides of the table, are other Alpha and leaders of different wolf packs; with Isabella and Luggard.
"Alpha Herlbert, it is time to start the meeting". Kendall Jenner, the head of the Ansett family said to Lycan's father.
He cleared his voice in his unique leadership way, and began.
"The reason for bringing everyone together in this meeting today is because of the recent rogues, who have formed an allianxe, and have been constantly attacking various wolf packs. These days, there habe been twenty skirmishes and casualties among the wolf pack members". Alpha Herlbert's voice sounded loudly for everyone to hear as he was speaking.
The guests present in the meetibgbwere also seen speaking to themselves in low tones; low enough not to disturb the meeting, nor distract the speaker, while they deliberated also on the subject matter of the meeting's agenda.
They did not doubt the words of Alpha Herlbert for it was no longer a secret, the excesses of the rogues.
"Alpha Herlbert, what would you like us to do?". Kendall Jenner asked.
