When I walked over to Lycan again, I saw another maid.
"Sir, is your room available to be tidied up now? ". The maid inquired, with a smile on her face.
"Let Tiffany do that, she's my personal maid now and she should be the one to take care of my personal stuffs". Lycan said, as he sipped from the cup of coffee I brought.
" But it has always been mine duty, to tidy up your room..... "
"I think I made myself clear". Lycan interrupted her; a little impatient with a raised voice. The maid became quiet, with her head bowed in disappointment.
"I'm sorry sir". She apologized.
"Just show her to my room to get started".
She led me towards Lycan's room without saying a word to me. I could feel the resentment, and the anger in her heart but she could only do as she was told.
"This is Alpha Lycan's room. You must clean every part of the room, and make sure you arranged everything very well!".The maid said in a no-nonsense tone to me, when we arrived the third floor, and into Lycan's room.
Lycan's living area was larger than my home, even a room was the size of the bedroom and the sitting room in my own home.
Cleaning the place alone will definitely wear me out.
I just couldn't understand why the maid enjoyed cleaning the room, even to make it a personal special task.
Was it to please him?
"Thank you", I said to let kindly anyways.
"No need to thank me. You better get to work immediately, and get the job done; and on time too. Otherwise, you won't have lunch. And if you damage any of the things here, you should be ready to get arrested and punished!" The maid said immediately, and then left.
I turned, and looked at the big room in front of me; I knew immediately that I was not going to have lunch today.
I carried a bucket of water from the bathroom, and started wiping every part of the room with a rag; not daring to have any carelessness.
All the furniture, the table lamps, wall frames, window stills, and the small objects, I wiped with all carefulness and concentration; afraid that they may damage.
The room were not even half cleaned, and my cloths were already drenched in sweat.
Although I did slot if house chores St home, but they were nothing compared to here.
By the time I mopped the floor, it was already lunch time; and I still had a load more chores to do.
I was a little demoralized, and felt even more aggrieved in my heart. If it was at home, I could have argued with them and stormed out of the house.
But not here.
If I ran out, and abandoned my job, they would mark me as a rogue, and no wolf pack would take me in again.
I was on my knees, wiping down the foot of Lycan's bed, when I heard a familiar voice.
"Tiffany?"
I supported my weak body with my hand, and stood up to answer; my legs had started to shake from being sore.
"You wiped the whole house with a rag; all by yourself?! "
Lycan couldn't believe it, and so did I. But I had to put in the extra effort to do a thorough job as instructed, and not get punished.
"Yes, and I'll soon be done as soon as I can. I have just one bedroom left, and the study". I replied, with my head bowed.
I just hoped he wouldn't give me a hard time anymore, otherwise I don't know when this chores would be done.
"Have you had lunch? " Lycan asked, instead.
"Not yet sir".
"Then go and have your lunch, I will have someone else come in and clean afterwards".
"Thank you Alpha Lycan". I said with a cracked voice, my body is too weak that even my voice couldn't help but c***k.
"From now on, you'll only need to clean up briefly everyday, and not wipe the whole house with your hands. And you can go home every Sunday for a break". He added, as I made my way to the hallway.
"Thank you Alpha Lycan".
That is a relief, although what I would rather hear was that he told me to go home and never come back to work here again.
But for now, it's nice enough to go home once a week.
I tried to look like I was walking normally, but my legs were still very sore enough to make me walk a little wobbly.
The maids ate in a special dining, away from Alpha Lycan's living area. Everything was much simpler than in Lycan's own.
When I walked into the dining room, most people had already finished eating.
And when they saw me, they couldn't help but started laughing, some kept pointing their fingers at me, and whispering something.
It was really embarrassing, and I felt hurt.
Standing in my drenched outfit in sweat, I looked at the foods placed in front if them, but couldn't seem to see the plates to put them in to eat.
Their chatter and humiliations at me, made me afraid to ask them.
"Tiffany, are you planning to grab the food with your bare hands; won't you get a plate and serve yourself some food if you are here to eat?". The maid that took me to Lycan room earlier said to me.
"Where is the serving plates, please?" I asked, clutching on to the corner of my skirt.
But in response to my question, everyone if them laughed at me instead; as if they just heard the most funny joke of the century.
My hands gripped the corner if my skirt tighter, my cheeks were burning in red, and at the point, I wished for the ground to open up and swallow me.
And the thought of my father; Alpha Sapphire, came clouding my mind.
Had it being my Dad was still alive, I wouldn't be here.
And if I hadn't come here, I wouldn't have been laughed at and ridiculed like this. I didn't even know what they were laughing at.
"What a shame! There are as many serving plates as there are maids here, yet, you couldn't tell that there is none for you". The maid said, with a sinister smile on her face.
It was now obvious, I am not having lunch today.
Even with Lycan's permission for me to have lunch, the maid was still bent on fulfilling her own promise. I couldn't eat lunch all the same.
I turned, and walked out of the dining room, as their laughter erupted behind me.
The aggression and the anger kept spreading in my heart. As I hurried back to my room.
As Lycan's personal maid, my room was also on the third floor; just next door to Lycan's room.
Back in my room, I closed the door and sat down on the floor and wept. All the sadness in my heart busted out at that moment; turning into heavy teardrops that kept rolling down my cheeks uncontrollably.
I didn't know what I did wrong to be treated this way on my first day here.
What did I do wrong?
All I wanted right there was to go home, and didn't want to stay for another moment.
"Tiffany you can't go back now; you haven't spoken to our mate yet".
Jada doesn't seem to get it!
"I don't need a mate any longer! ", I yelled at her.
"I'll rather just be a lonely werewolf; nothing and nobody here needs me! ".
I broke down completely, and cried out to Jada.
"Okay Tiffany, I know you are upset right now, but you really need to calm down, and pull yourself together. Our mission here is to find our mate, and you shouldn't be thinking too much about any other thing or any other person here".
Jada's voice was much softer, but I couldn't listen to anything anymore. All I wanted is to get out of this hellhole.
To hell with our mate!
That was all I could do, and wept.
I didn't know how long it took, but there was a knock at the door.
I stood up, wiping the tears on my face, and opened the door.
Surprisingly, it was Lycan.
I froze! What is he doing here, and by this time of the day?!
"Why didn't you eat lunch?"
His tone was mixed with discontent, and pity. And I was confused.
"I didn't tell the kitchen to prepare my dinner plate ahead of time".
That was what I could say.
I lowered my head, and then realized that my voice was heavily nasal.
"Dinner plates?!".
Lycan seems more puzzled than I was, with my answer.
