Picnic

It took longer than he expected to get where Bellona wanted to go, as it was sunset by the time they arrived at a lake ringed by woodland. The elf wondered if she had planned this because it was absolutely gorgeous. Little blue flowers and all sorts of mushrooms covered the mossy ground while dainty rose brambles climbed up the pines, blooming into little starbursts of white and pale pink. The pinks, yellows, oranges, reds, and purples of the sunset reflected off of the lake. He could do little but sit and stare in awe and amazement. "You might want to close your mouth before birds make a nest in it." She giggled. "Huh? Oh." He cleared his throat as he got off of his horse and walked over to where she had already set out a blanket and food. "This looks amazing, how did you manage all of this?" He asked. "That's a secret." She teased. They ate quietly, just enjoying their surroundings for a while before Bellona grabbed his arm, surprising him so much he almost choked on a tart. "Look!" She exclaimed. All of the blue flowers were now softly glowing as the last few rays of light left the clearing. It was spectacular.  He felt something being placed on his head and looked up to try and see what it was. Bellona laughed as he tried to look at it before realizing he could just take it off. It was a crown made of the same glowing flowers. Bellona grinned. "A crown for my king." He put it back on and rolled his eyes. "That's really cheesy, but it's also kinda cute so I'll let you pass this one time."  She leaned over and kissed him softly, a shock but also nice. She smelled like jasmine. Something stirred in the back of his mind, the half-forgotten memory of a room. Most of it was hazy but he could see the vase of little white flowers on the vanity and hear someone talking. The words he couldn't make out but he knew immediately who was speaking. Cadmael pulled away and stood up abruptly. His chest was tightening and it was getting harder to breathe. He had to take a second to regain his balance before he rushed off into the undergrowth, leaving his wife hurt and confused.
