The reception was...uncomfortable to say the least. Cad spent most of it off to the side trying to be ignored while Bellona was being surrounded by a flock of nobles all tittering away like birds. It was actually rather interesting to hear what was said, since they were much more fond of thinly veiled jabs and insults then the courtiers at home, mostly in his direction of course. The elf wasn't quite sure if they knew that his hearing was better then a regular human's or if they didn't care.
"Oh you poor girl." He heard. "Getting married to that awful man." "He looks so cold and detached, just like all the other elves." "That necklace and robe are such bright colors. It's like he's trying to be the center of attention." "Please let us know if he hurts you my dear. I can't bear the thought of you having to live with such a monster. He's like the tundra, harsh as ice." That last one in particular stung a bit. "How can I be like ice? I've never even seen snow before." He wondered.
The reception went on for about 10 hours, far too long in Cad’s opinion, before all of the guests finally left and the couple was allowed to go wherever they wished. Cadmael immediately shut himself up in the library and stayed there until the sunset.
Bellona turned around and stood up from her desk as he entered the room. “Your highness?” Her words fell on deaf ears as he went and laid down in the bed. “Goodnight Regina.” He pulled the covers up to his chin, turning away from her and going to sleep.
Bellona stood in stunned silence for a while, simply shocked by his behavior. She huffed and finished her work before going to bed.
