Welcome to Grimsby

Have you ever had that moment when you know you are in the right place, and it's only going to get better from there? For Mina, standing in the quaint log cottage was that moment. Traveling around the world making great memories and better friends couldn't top the overwhelming peace she felt at that moment standing in her new home. She had spent the last few years doing everything on her bucket list, truly living life to the fullest, and now all she wanted was peace. To have an oasis to finish her last book, her publisher and best friend kept nagging for her to finish. This was the perfect last stop, the perfect home to get the quiet and peace she needed. The perfect place to say goodbye. From the wooden walls, oak floors, open concept main floor and massive bedroom upstairs, what more could a girl ask for? When she found the quant little town of Grimsby, she knew it was the perfect place to settle down. Not only was it in the middle of nowhere, she found this adorable cottage in the more secluded forest of the town, allowing her the privacy and peace to write. The cottage was her dream come to life with its wrap-around porch with a swing bench at the front and rocking chairs at the back. The main floor was perfect, being a completely open concept. Off to the left was a nice living room with the couch and chairs soft to the touch and heaven to sit on. A small wooden coffee table that perfectly matched the walls and floors of the cottage and a decent-sized flat screen mounted on the wall, making the living space perfect for lazing around and watching movies and shows. To the right was a small round table right by the big front windows with enough space for two to eat, not that she needed seating for two, it was only her after all. Just to the left of the table sat the kitchen in all its rustic glory. The island allowed for more seating, being the perfect spot for her to drink her coffee in the morning and check her emails. To the back of the room were bigger windows showing the amazing view of the forest that surrounded the whole property and a big sliding door leading to the back porch and two rocking chairs. A small powder room sat to the left just before the back door that followed with the whole rustic outdoors theme the whole cottage had so far. Dancing up the stairs, barely able to hold in her excitement, Mina found a massive room and ensuite with the biggest tub she had ever seen and an impressive-sized glass shower. Like the rest of the house, the bedroom and bathroom followed the rustic theme. The bedroom had a decent sized closet and a big dresser for her clothes. Dancing her fingers across the soft duvet on the king-sized bed that begged for her to dive in and take a nap, pushing the urge down, she continued through the room and right towards the massive windows that covered one wall. The wall made of windows allowed for a spectacular view she was going to enjoy when she went to bed that night. Two french doors sat in the middle leading out to a balcony with two chairs and a small coffee table that overlooked the stunning view Mina was already obsessed with. "Now this is the perfect spot to drink my coffee in the morning," stepping out onto the balcony, she leaned on the railing with a smile on her face. Mina couldn't believe she was finally there. She was finally home. She finally had a place of her own, an escape from it all. Her own little piece of heaven. A sudden buzzing in her pocket burst her happy little bubble. With a sigh, Mina pulled out her phone. Clicking the green accept button, she pressed the phone to her ear without looking at who it was. Not that she needed to, there was only one person who would be bugging her right now. "Hello Jay," She greeted her while plopping down on one of the chairs, not willing to go back inside just yet. "Don't hey me Missy," Jay barked, making Mina wince. "You said you would call me once you landed, so I knew you got there safe," "Sorry I honestly forgot I just wanted to get to the property and relax," Biting her lip guilt dancing up her spine. She had promised her friend to check in, and she knew of all the people Jay was one person who would freak out if she didn't hear from her, especially when Mina had promised. "Mina I just," she loudly sighed through the phone. "I just worry and for good reason. You should be here in L.A. with me, not in some unknown town in the middle of nowhere. What if something happens? You won't have anyone there with you. I won't be there when... I just worry is all." "I know I'm sorry, I just needed a quiet place to rest. To get the book done and to be able to get some privacy. Also, you could come and visit. I only have one bedroom, but I have a king-sized bed that's more than big enough for both of us. It'll be like old times." Both women burst into giggles. Jay has known Mina since they were kids. Their mothers were childhood best friends who made sure the girls were always together and slowly the two developed their own unbreakable friendship. Jay had stayed by her side through all the doctors' appointments and hospital stays. Through the pain of losing Minas' parents. They had been through each other's ups and downs, always there for one another. "Speaking of your book, have you started it?" "I have brainstormed and was going to start it today," Mina sheepishly ducked her head as if she could see her. "Mina, as your best friend and publisher, I say this with as much love as I can. You are full of s**t," "Hey!" Another fit of giggles erupted from both women. "I am not full of poo, I really am going to start working on the book. Just being here has the creative juices flowing," "Maybe you can find someone to help you with the other juices too," She could hear the smirk in Jay's voice. "Seriously Jay," "What? I am just saying maybe a little fun would help with those creative juices," Jay purred into the phone. "You're a horn dog, you know that," Mina leaned into the chair, rolling her eyes at her friend's antics. "Yup," She said, popping the p. "But seriously, you have a deadline and I know you want to get this last book all done before-" "I know," Mina cut her off. "I am on it Jay, I will get it all done," Finishing up the call, Mina decided to head into town to stock up her fridge and hopefully find a coffee. Jay, being not only the best friend a girl could ask for, had her bronco shipped over before Mina had gotten there, so she wouldn't have to rent a vehicle. While she was wrapping up her book tour in Europe, her bestie had not only gotten her new home completely furnished but had her beloved bronco shipped over, so she would have a vehicle to travel into town when needed. There are three things Mina loved in the world: her best friend Jay, her laptop and her faded green Ford Bronco she had inherited from her father when her parents died. It had been her father's favorite vehicle. "Hello big green," Climbing into the vehicle, smiling she rubbed the dash lovingly. Five minutes later, she was downtown Grimsby. Parking outside the small store with the worn out sign saying Grimsby groceries, she cut the engine leaning into the seat. People scurried about, couples holding hands, children running and yelling. Mina watched it all happily. This was it, this was home.
