Adrian’s POV The morning light hit my eyes before I even realized I hadn’t slept. I was still sitting on the couch in Soren’s office, a half-empty cup of coffee in my hands that had gone cold hours ago. The city outside looked peaceful, too peaceful for the storm brewing beneath it. Soren stood near the window, his shoulders tense, his phone glued to his ear as he spoke in that clipped, controlled tone that meant something bad was happening. I didn’t interrupt him. I just watched. He hadn’t changed clothes since last night. His shirt was wrinkled, his tie loose, and yet, somehow, he still looked like he belonged to another world, calm, intimidating, untouchable.
