Chapter 10 - Crossing Lines

506 Words
Harvey took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Alex, I need to tell you something about Rayven," he said, his voice softer now. "What about him?" Alex asked warily, still fuming from the earlier incident. "Rayven is my cousin," Harvey began. "We've known each other since we were kids, but we've had our differences. He's always been reckless and selfish, and I've learned to distance myself from him. But recently, he's been trying to get close to me again, and I don't trust his intentions." Alex's expression was skeptical. "So, you're saying I shouldn't be friends with him because of his past behavior?" Harvey nodded. "Yes, exactly. I don't want you to get hurt, Alex. You're...important to me. And I know Rayven's type. He'll use you for his own gain and discard you when he's done." Alex's eyes narrowed. "You act like you're my boyfriend or something, always telling me what to do and getting possessive. Newsflash, Harvey: I'm not your girlfriend." Harvey's face fell, and he looked away. "I just...I don't want you to get hurt, okay? Rayven will break your heart, and I don't want to see that happen." Alex shook her head, her anger rising again. "You have no right to control me, Harvey. I can take care of myself." With that, she opened the car door and stormed out, leaving Harvey feeling frustrated and helpless. "Alex, wait!" he called out, but she just kept walking, her shoulders stiff with anger. As Harvey watched her go, he couldn't help but feel a pang of regret. He knew he had overstepped, but he couldn't bear the thought of Alex getting hurt by Rayven's manipulative ways. "Why did I do that?" Harvey muttered to himself, slamming his fist on the steering wheel. "I just can't let her go through what happened before." But it was too late now. Alex was already gone, and Harvey was left to wonder if he had blown it for good. -- Alex looked around, feeling frustrated and lost. She had no idea how to get home after storming out of Harvey's car. Just as she was starting to worry, a sleek, red BMW M4 pulled up beside her. "Thank goodness," Alex muttered to herself as the tinted window rolled down. To her surprise, it was indeed Rayven. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his eyes scanning the area. Alex hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I was just...taking a walk. I took a wrong turn somewhere," she said, trying to sound casual. Rayven raised an eyebrow. "A wrong turn? You're quite far from campus. Do you want a ride home?" Alex nodded gratefully. "That would be great, thanks." As they drove, Alex couldn't help but feel grateful to Rayven for saving her from her predicament. She made a mental note to forget about her earlier encounter with Harvey. "Thanks for the ride, Rayven," Alex said, trying to sound sincere. "I really appreciate it." Rayven smiled, his eyes fixed on the road. "No problem, Alex. I'm glad I could help."
