Eliana POV There was a wind blowing, and the branches overhead as I watched shook. My cloak flapped on my legs. I drew back on her with the gagging taste of betrayal. "If you do not want to be honest with me," I said slowly. "But don't pretend that you are doing it for my sake.” “Eliana—” “No,” I cut in. “You told me to stay away from Alexander because love is dangerous. But you are the one that is always hurting me.” Her face was wreathed with tears that were not shed. The awkward silence grew and I turned my back to her and my boots rested a little in the moss as I moved away. I did not know where my legs were taking but I could not remain another moment in that glade. Behind me, her voice was sweet, cold, near-human in its delicacy: “I lost someone because of the moon once.” I
