“Astrid. The Capo is looking for you.”
I looked at her and gave her a nod before I stood up. There is a big possibility that I am going to handle a special mission. This would be the second time around, who am I going to kill this time? Senator? A businessman? Who?
I knocked three times when I reach the office of the Capo. He was the chief of this secret organization. He’s my uncle, the one who raised me when I became an orphan at the age of six years old. My parent was killed right in front of me.
“Astrid.” He called my name, I just nodded at him.
“I want you to handle this.” He said and gave me an envelope, I browsed through it and I saw a lot of papers, including the picture of the target. I picked it up.
What the hell? Is this my new mission?
“Capo…” I said.
“You seemed so shocked upon seeing that.” He said nonchalantly, I looked at him.
“What is the reason?” I asked. He looked at me, coldly. It sent shivers down my spine.
“I will tell you soon, but for now read those documents. It will help you to understand, why he needs to vanish from this world.” He said and dismissed me. I walked out without asking another set of questions. Capo is a man of few words, even though I looked at him as a father I don’t know what’s going on in his mind.
I need to study this; I got this feeling that this was personal…too personal.
Who would kill one of the richest men in this country? The man who almost runs our economy, the owner of real states, trading, etc. When I reached my room, I lay on my bed and start to read the documents.
Cynn Lycidas Smith. 33 years old. Single. CEO of Smith Corporation…
I read every detail about him, about how he became a CEO when he was just like me, an orphan. He was raised by his best friend’s mother and many more. I can’t find any loopholes or reasons that I should kill him. Why did Capo want to kill this man?
Was he hiding skeletons in his closet? But why is it not here? I looked at the other documents but the remaining ones were the documents that I am going to use.
It wasn’t entirely undercover at all, but I am going to use my profession which was accountancy, I am going to act as his secretary. Damn it! This was the one that I hated the most, to pretend to be someone good where I am not that good. I read all the details about my documents; this would be tougher than I expected. Damn it!
“I never expected this! I thought it was only for a short amount of time!” I said and walked towards my cabinet. I need to pack my things; I need to move out after two days. I need to buy new clothes and a few necessities because I was going to stay there for five months.
I felt my phone vibrated in my pocket, I picked up. I saw three text messages from Capo.
From: Capo
“You don’t need to pack things; everything is already prepared. You are the only one needed. I expect you to finish this mission without complication.”
“I know you’re clueless about this, but you’re the only that I can entrust this mission.”
“This is revenge, that’s all that I can say for now.”
I put down my phone, trying to understand what he said. This was revenge? Was he the reason why my aunt and my cousin were killed? I sighed and shrugged it off. There’s nothing I can do about it.
I just want to finish this, if Capo…my uncle wants me to use as his weapon, I am glad to do it. It is my way to repay his kindness towards me. If everything was prepared, all I have to do was to perfect my character. Damn this is going to be tough!
“I am sure that I will be going to finish this mission before on its deadline,” I whispered to myself before I start to practice and memorize what I need to memorize. See you soon, Cynn Lycidas Smith.
After two days, the debriefing was well done, and I am off to go to that small town, where Cynn Lycidas Smith lives. He lives in a small town which was far from a city, but then I know most of the businessmen have their own thing. I need to travel for almost three hours just to get there, the Lycan Town. I open the radio and let myself drown to the music while driving.
“Lycan town…is there a lot of werewolves living there?” I suddenly said, I just shook my head. I am thinking too much.
A breath-taking view welcomes me, tall trees, and grasses, it is all green, and it looks like a forest along the way. I can’t stop myself from admiring the place, no wonder he lives here. These natural views cannot be replaced by high rise buildings in a city. A few moments later, I reached my destination.
“Lycan Town,” I mumbled while reading the sign. It was so quiet, I bet the population of this town was less than a thousand. I step out of the car and saw a man with his sunglasses. His aura is so dominating, I can’t stop myself from holding my breath. He walks towards me; he looks like a man that just came from a magazine.
He removed his sunglasses, looked at my eyes. His hazel eyes stared mine, it was breathtakingly beautiful. His aristocratic nose, and a top-knot hair bun. Those magazines and pictures cannot even give him justice. He stared at me like he was assessing me.
We just stare at each other for a minute. I don’t know but something was pulling me like I was stuck. I gulped when I saw his expression became confused.
He cleared his throat and smiled at me.
“You must be Vixen.”
“Y-yes, It-s n-nice to m-meet y-you, Mr. Cynn Lycidas Smith,” I said. Damn! I just stuttered in front of this man.
