Ford’s POV “Why didn’t you tell me that sooner?” My words come out loud. I can no longer hide behind my mask of calm. I know that Madeline heard the anger in my voice. She flinches, all the strange casual delight on her face draining completely, taking her color with them. “Why are you yelling at me?” she asks. “I told you, Livia is fine. She’s in the school clinic and she’s not doing too bad. It’s just an allergic reaction.” Just an allergic reaction? I have the fight the urge to repeat that loudly, to echo to her how insane she makes that sound. An allergic reaction that will warrant an entire day in the clinic is not just a reaction.
