Livia’s POV Tension hangs in the air. I know I need to look away, to shake this off, to stop my feelings from growing before they escape me. But I can’t look away. “How… how do you want me to take care of you?” Ford lifts his body from the backrest and leans in, abruptly. Giving me no time to process anything before he speaks. “Take care of me by not attempting to leave again.” And that breaks the spell. I lean back, shocked. For a moment, I thought it would be something different. But what was I really expecting? A small, twitchy laugh escapes my lips. “What? I wouldn’t have even tried if you didn’t lie to me.” Ford tilts his head, and to his credit, he does look embarrassed about it. “I know. I’m still sorry about that.” Silence settles between us. The tension is gone now.
