Livia’s POV I walk faster. My knees are aching and I don’t know why. Maybe they’re just responding to the nerves. Whatever the reason is, I’m not going as fast as I can. As fast as I want to. And the person behind me is keeping up. Heavy footsteps, scattering the small puddles that the rain created. Frantic breathing—but maybe that was mine. I don’t know. All I know is that I need to run— “Hey!” The man’s voice makes me go even faster. But he doesn’t seem to have a problem keeping up with me. He’s fast. Too fast.
