Ford’s POV When Mrs. Freeman called telling me that there’s an issue at school that I needed to attend to, my first thought landed on Nadine. After all, she has gotten into trouble before. So imagine my shock finding Livia sitting there, getting yelled at by some woman. I immediately wedge myself in between them. “Ma’am, please don’t yell at her that way.” The woman bristles. “Yeah? Have you seen what she did to my son? Maybe make sure that your ward is mentally stable! Isn’t that your responsibility?” “She’s doing well, and she’s been doing better than ever,” I say. “Do you even know what your son did to her? Or said to her?” “No,” she says, smug for some reason. I turn to Livia right then, waiting for her to explain. But she doesn’t. Even Mrs. Freeman is watching her expectantly
