Chapter 14

The day finally arrived that Brandy would teach Roxy how to hunt. Roxy was so excited that she woke up early; that no merperson was awake yet. For the next few hours Roxy swam a little, not going to far from the cavern. At last the hour came when Brandy and Roxy agreed to meet at. "Mira did a spell on this seaweed to help you like before; it's not very strong so that you'll catch on fast." "Ok, thanks." Roxy took and swallowed the seaweed. Once the seaweed was swallowed, they both swam away, after some time Brandy taught Roxy how to hunt. For that week Roxy learned as much as possible about weapons, how to make them, and lastly how to apply poison to any of them. Near the end of the week both Roxy and Brandy went hunting, by mid-next week Roxy caught on as if she was a natural. Although Roxy caught on Brandy and Mira sent one of their hunters out with Roxy to test her. Roxy and the hunter Cosmo came back with two fangtooth and an angler fish. The next day Roxy went hunting alone, bringing along a bag to carry whatever. That day Roxy first went hunting for fish which she succeed in; afterward Roxy went to gather other things such as small shellfish and seaweed. Because Roxy was taking her time Mira and the other elders decided to send a few merpeople out to look while Zelda and Erika tried to telepathically communicate. The only reply Erika and Zelda got was "I'm fine" and nothing else; they worried that she might have crossed paths with another merperson that wasn't part of either Mira's or Audrey's clan or that she is struggling with hunting. Danny didn't want to admit to anyone even to his friend Tyler he was worried about Roxy. "Lets go out hunting." "You're not worried about Roxy and using hunting as an excuse to help find her?" "No." Tyler knows Danny so well that he just pretends to believe him. "Fine lets go hunting." "You're not worried about-" "I am worried but we're friends. We can hunt and if by a chance we cross paths then I can tell her everyone's worried about her. I doubt it though, it's big out here." Danny didn't reply back; just started swimming, with Tyler by his side and weapons in their hands. While Roxy was still exploring and trying gather some more small shellfish like oyster.. Roxy saw a great white shark trying to be sneaky, to attack two mermen and without thinking Roxy said "watch out" while trying talk to the shark at the same time. Everyone stopped and looked around to see a mermaid coming close. Tyler and Danny was a bit surprised to see a shark some amount of feet behind them. They were relieved the mermaid who said 'watch out' was Roxy; Danny didn't show his relief as much as Tyler. "You ruined my hunt, leave or-" "No you listen to me! You are to leave without attacking any of us." The great white shark started swimming toward Roxy, before the shark could swim any further Roxy did a spell to immobilize the shark. "What the heck?" "I made it so you can't move at all. Now you can leave us be and never try attack us, if you don't agree we can kill you now and take you back home with us. What do you say?" The shark agreed to the terms, Roxy took the spell off and the shark left. Tyler thanked Roxy immediately, Danny on the other hand didn't say anything. "Why don't you help me look for some shellfish and seaweed?" Before Danny could say a word, Tyler said "ok." Tyler tried to make it less awkward but somehow it made it more awkward. "You two need to talk now!" "I-" "Fine with me... Daniel I apologize about earlier, lying to you. I just wanted you get to know me first and then tell you. If you still felt the same after I told you I would have accepted." "I was indeed surprised and scared of what happened. I hated that you lied, I was more scared of what happened not just getting attacked but of you getting poisoned. I was scared I was going to lose you, my friend." "I-I-I'm sorry for scaring and lying to you. So we're still friends?" "It's fine, I understand and yes we can still be friends." "Guess I'll visit you and your family once in a while." "What do you mean visit, aren't you going to come with us?" "Well I thought you wouldn't want-" "No I-I love you-" "Love?" "Yes. I love you." "Dude are you sure you love her and not mistaking it for gratefulness for saving you twice?" "Yeah I'm sure." "I have to agree with Tyler I mean-" "Before you saved me the first time I was falling for you. I thought it would be cool to introduce you to my world, that maybe I could convince my grandmother and the other girl about changing their minds because I fell in love with you. Do you think we could start over?" "Of course... Hi my name is Roxy." Danny just laughed, then said "hello. My name Daniel but my friends call me Danny, you can call me either one." Both Roxy and Danny just laughed while Tyler stared at them bewildered. "Right, Tyler Danny lets continue looking for small shellfish and seaweed." They both nodded, once in a while Danny stole glances at Roxy but still in no time the bag was full of seaweed and shellfish. Roxy telepathically told Erika she was heading back to the cavern with food and a couple of friends. Erika indeed felt relief yet a little angry from earlier, still Erika had to tell the elders that Roxy contacted her. Elder Zelda telepathically told the few telepaths who was out looking for Roxy what was going on. Once Tyler, Danny, and Roxy arrived back at the cavern everyone was relieved to see Roxy. "My dear we were so worried something happened to you." "I'm fine Miss. Audrey. Elder Mira I hunted and caught two large fish and gathered a bag of shellfish and seaweed." "You could of told us" interjected Erika. "I wanted to bring a small surprise, a thank you gift for elder Mira and Brandy for helping and teaching me." "Still what if something happened to you?" "She can handle herself" said Danny. "How would you know if you haven't even chatted with or seen her in action?" "Tyler and I saw Roxy in action some moments ago. She saved us from a great white shark." "I'm right here, not elsewhere." "Sorry" said Danny and Erika. "What happened with the great white shark?" "Grandmother Tyler and I went out to look for Roxy and possibly hunt a little. Roxy saw a great white coming up from behind us trying to sneakily attack us. Roxy yelled at us and put a spell on it, talked to it I'm sure and let it go... Roxy and I was able to talk through some things too." "I see. Thank you, Roxy, for saving my grandson and his friend." "It's nothing really." "Why don't we all continue talking in the relaxing chambers." Instead of saying anything everyone headed to the relaxation chamber to listen and talk. A month has passed since Roxy, Audrey, Tyler, and Danny arrived and now they're leaving back to Audrey's clan to continue their lives; so Roxy and the clan can also get to know another.
