I fumbled with the door handle, my fingers clumsy from the alcohol and nerves. When I stepped out onto the driveway, my legs wobbled in my heels. Richard was beside me in an instant, his hand gripping my elbow to steady me. "Inside," he ordered, guiding me toward the house. The front door closed behind us with a heavy click that sounded like a prison cell locking. Richard released my elbow and walked past me into the living room, loosening his tie as he went. "Sit," he ordered, gesturing to the couch. Something reckless stirred inside me at his command. I sat carefully, my hands folded in my lap, watching him.
