Elise woke when her body was slammed into the side of the van. She had lost count of how many times her body had been abused by the sudden stops and starts of the drivers. She was sure if one or both of men didn’t kill her that would. Her head was bleeding from hitting the corner of what she learned was a coffin that the older one used to hide during the day.
"Where are we?"
“Almost a hundred miles across state lines.”
Across state lines? Elise’s stomach sank they’d been in the van for almost three days so she knew they were traveling far but would Cal be able to find her across states? She had no doubt he would try to find her she just didn’t know if he could.
“Is she awake?” Bert asked.
“Yes.”
