The Yellow Sandpit

729 Words
On the island, while the tourist guides were leading the visitors to the areas were living things are actually aloud to thrive on, me and my friends snuck away to the restricted area which was ever so perfectly locked up with thick 16 inch chains and labeled with warning signs and a deer skull. Bruce: So now what? Millie: I got it (digs into dove's backpack and brings out pliers). Jackson: Cool, way to plan ahead. Wow, why didn't I think of that, I didn't even remember having those in there. Anyways, Millie snapped open the chains and we were in. As we stepped through, it felt like we were going through a portal to another dimension. There was a long pathway which we obviously had to follow. **************************** After I brief 5 minutes walk we came to where humans go and never return. THE YELLOW SANDPIT. A 50 meter wide and like 40 meters deep canyon which was filled halfway with golden yellow sinking sand. If you were unlucky enough to fall in there, I'm sorry for you but there's no way you're getting outta there alive. Jackson: So how are four 12 year olds supposed to cross what over 10 adults couldn't Dove: I think I know how. I dug into my bag pack and brought out an infinity long thick rope. Looking around I found curved tree branches which were perfect for what I had in mind, the others looking at the items and seemed to figure out what I had in mind. Jackson: Zip lining? Dove: Yup. Millie: Oh, I've never gone zip lining before. Dove: Well, there's a first time for everything my dear Millie. I spotted a bird's nest at the other side of the sandpit and I could tell very well due to my knowledge of birds that it was a harpy eagle's nest so I had a very dangerous idea. Luckily I had fish in my bag so I hooked it onto the start of the rope then raised it as high as I could in the air, the others looked at me like I was crazy but I knew what I was doing. And as expected a huge harpy eagle swooped down taking the fish and flying back to the tree circling round it a few times before landing in the nest, the rope was perfectly secured. Millie: Wow, that was insane! Dove: Thanks, now I tie this other end to this tree and we're good to go. Bruce: Hmm, smart. Dove: Ya jealous? I tied the other end to a thick tree as tight as I could, then we grabbed the curved sticks and were ready to go. Dove: You guys ready? Bruce/Jackson: Yup. Millie: No. I'm too scared, what if the rope snaps? Bruce: Urgh, stop being such a baby. Dove: It's alright mil, it's safe, watch me. I secured the branch and zip lined all the way to the other side screaming with joy. Then I zip lined back to the others. Dove: See, safe. Millie: (shivering) Alright then. Millie went ahead screaming in fear as crossed the pit. When she reached the other side she jumped off landing on the ground and yelled happily. Then Bruce and Jackson went next and landed safely. Then it was my turn, I strapped on my backpack then zipped through the canyon holding tightly to the branch praying that the rope wouldn't snap or the branch would break. As I got to the other side, I let go to soon and slipped off the edge about to fall into the sandpit. Millie: DOVE!!! Bruce: Oh my God!! Millie and Bruce quickly grabbed my hands and there I was dangling from the very edge about to fall and sink to my doom. Millie: Hold on! Bruce: We got you. With all their strength they tried to pull me up but I began to slip, Jackson joined in and the three of them successfully pulled me up and we all collapsed on the ground sweaty and out of breath. I could of almost died. Millie: Are you okay? Dove: Yeah, I'm fine. Millie: ( runs and hugs her) oh thank goodness, I don't know what we would of done if you died. Jackson: We would of been lost without you. Bruce: Would we be though? Jackson: (hits him) Bruce: Dude! Dove: (chuckles).
