After a brief walk north, it was then I realized I had no idea where we were going.
Bruce: Hey dove can I ask you something?
Dove: If it's about where the heck we are going, zip it.
Bruce: Hey, I have the right to speak.
Dove: We're on a killer island, your rights serve no purpose here!
Jackson: Come on guys don't start fighting now.
Bruce: Bruh, when your leader has lead you to the middle of nowhere a fight is likely to break out.
Dove: You calling me a bad navigator.
Jackson: He didn't say that.
Dove: He said it indirectly.
Millie: Hey how about we ask for directions?
Dove: What living thing on this island is sane enough for us to talk to?
Millie: Why don't we ask her.
We all turned to where Millie pointed and there stood a fair skinned girl, possibly our age, with black hair and olive green eyes wearing a black and red dress with black mary janes. When she saw us she smiled and walked towards to us.
Girl: Hello there, my name's Karina.
Dove: Um, hi?
Millie: Hello Karina, can you give us some assistance, we're kinda lost.
Dove: No we aren't.
Bruce: Yes we are.
Karina: Oh well if you need a place to stay you can come to my village.
Dove: We don't have time to...
Bruce: Yes we do!
Karina: Great, follow me.
Dove: I don't think we can...
Millie: Aww come on dove.
Bruce: Yeah, I thought you liked adventuring?
Dove: I do but...
I didn't even have my say, they dragged me all the way as we followed Karina through a bushy path to her supposed village. It took longer to get there than I'd thought but we finally got there and despite the fact that it was hidden deep in the forest and no light could get through causing the place to give off a spooky mood, the village was thriving, children ran and played around, women sat in there balconies chatting and drinking tea while men walked around from place to place with some tending to farms, overall the village was giving off 19th century vibes which was sus.
Karina immediately took us to her home, a medium sized home made from bricks and cement. As we entered, we were met with a man in his mid 40s according to his looks, he was dressed in a 17th century men's attire with a golden skull pendant around his neck which I so desperately wanted. When he saw us a smile appeared on his face.
Karina: This is my father, Garroth.
Dove: Good afternoon Mr Garroth.
Garroth: (chuckles) It's Mr oak. Garroth is my name.
Dove: Oh pardon me sir.
Garroth: It's alright, Karina what brings these four children to our village?
Karina: They were coming out of the forests and are looking for a place to stay.
Dove: Well we weren't...
Bruce: (interrupts) shut it dove.
Garroth: (chuckles) Well you're free to stay for as long as you like, I'll have a room prepared for you along with some food to eat.
Dove: That sounds nice but I don't think we...
Millie: Dove, they're being nice.
Garroth: Karina lead them to the dining room, they must be starving after all that walking.
Karina: Yes sir. Come this way.
We were lead to the inner room which happened to be their dining room. Cooks had already arranged the table with various meals and drinks, our mouths watered at the various delicacies, even though I tried to maintain myself, Bruce, Millie, and Jackson rushed to sit down and immediately started eating, I didn't blame them, we were pretty hungry. I sat down but refused to eat. With the why the maids were smiling at us weirdly, something didn't feel right. Shortly after Garroth and Karina came in shortly and sat on the empty seats.
Garroth: You children enjoying your meal?
Bruce: (mouthful) mm-hm.
Millie: It's delicious.
Jackson: Compliments to the chef.
Garroth: (notices dove) Aren't you eating?
Dove: No, I'm good.
Jackson: Come on dove don't act all high and mighty.
Dove: I'm fine.
Bruce: If you say so, have fun starving.
Garroth: Consider eating, you'll need enough nutrients for your body and blood.
Dove: No thanks.
Jackson: Man, I'm so full.
Millie: Now that was a good meal.
Garroth: Glad to see you all enjoyed it. Karina go take them to the guestroom.
Karina: Yes sir (stands up) follow me.
Dove: We don't plan on staying long we still have somewhere to be by tomorrow.
Garroth: It's getting really dark and it's not safe outside for children like you. You wouldn't want to get eating by trolls?
Karina: Urgh, trolls.
Dove: (groans) fine we'll stay, just for the night.
Karina lead us up a flight of stairs and down a corridor to a small guest room which was furnished with two bunk beds , a large wardrobe and a study table and chair. The dimness and aura of the room was pleasing to me but I was still skeptical of this village.
Karina: Does it meet to your expectations platinum?
Dove: Eh, I've been to better guestrooms.
Bruce: Dude, show
Karina: It's not much but will do for now.
Bruce: It's okay we can manage.
Karina: Would you like to bathe before you sleep.
Millie: No, we'll do that in the morning.
Karina: Okay, sleep well (exits the room).
As Karina left, Millie, Jackson and Bruce flopped on the beds ready to sleep but I just sat down on the study pulling out the map. Millie noticed me and jumped off the bed coming to we're I was.
Millie: Hey dove, aren't you gonna sleep?
Dove: Nah, I'm just gonna study this map a bit.
Millie: You know there's nothing to fear.
Dove: Ofcourse there is we're on LEFU'S ISLAND.
Millie: But we're in a safe village.
Dove: (sarcastic) Yeah totally safe.
Millie: (frowns) You're being a little arrogant dove.
Dove: I have every choice to be, anything can happen at any time.
Millie: Well fine, overwhelm yourself while we go to sleep.
Dove: okay go.
She scoffed and turned off the light leaving me in total darkness but I brought out my flashlight and continued what I was doing. Even though fatigue had a tight hold on me I was too problemed to sleep, not when my insides felt something was wrong.
The difficult part was that I seemed to know what was wrong, the map looked wrong, the island wasn't skull shaped and the pathways didn't seem to aline well so I carefully peeled off the tape and started rearranging the map pieces like a puzzle until it looked like a skull again then I put the tape back permanently and looked at the map again, it was then I realized what my mindset was trying to tell me. According to mis saleton's story, the adventurers first traveled to the petrifying forests then passed through the Vampire Village, a village where blood-sucking and flesh eating vampires thrived. And looking at the root we passed through, we were in the Vampire Village.
Sleep had decided to take a vacation which left me on high alert like I had just chugged a jug of coffee, we were in danger and I was the only one who knew it. I turned off the flashlight and put the map back in my bag and flug it over my shoulders then quietly crept to where the others were sleeping and woke them up gently, even if they didn't get the memo.
Bruce: (tiredly) What is it dove?
Dove: (whispers) We need to leave this village now.
Millie: Dove, not this again, we get it that you don't like it here, now you're telling us we need to leave?
Dove: I'm serious, we are in freaking danger!
Jackson: Well why don't you leave, and leave us alone (flops back on his bed).
Dove: Darn you guys.
I turned on the flashlight in my hand and screamed falling to the ground which immediately woke up the others. In front of me was Karina who stood there unknown to us smiling widely, two of her upper teeth were pointy.
Jackson: She's a freaking vampire!
Dove: They all are!
Karina: That's right, and you four are tonights dinner.
Dove: Run!
The others ran for the door as Karina left towards me but I quickly smacked her with a pillow and made a run for it meeting the others at the stairway.
Millie: Are you okay?
Dove: Not bitten at least, now we need to...
Millie: (screams).
Dove: Do you mind?
Millie pointed to the ceiling and both Jackson and Bruce started shivering. I turned around and saw Garroth hanging from the ceiling.
Garroth: Leaving so soon guests?
Garroth jumped down pinning me to the ground.
Millie/Bruce/Jackson: DOVE!
Dove: Run you imbeciles!
Garroth tried to bite me but I blocked him trying desperately to struggle out of his grip, he got a hold of my arm and bit down hard causing me to scream in pain, I could feel my blood draining. I tilted my head and noticed a large cane which I got hold of and smacked Garroth causing him to loose consciousness and get of me. As I stood up I noticed the skull pendant still round his neck and took it because I liked it and ran.
I ran out of the house quickly, the entire village was already looking for us and I needed to find the others before they do. As I was thinking, I got pulled into the bushes and saw Millie, Jackson and Bruce whom were already scared have to death.
Millie: Dove, you're arm.
Dove: (looks at her b****y arm) I'm fine.
Millie: (sober) I don't wanna be eaten.
Dove: Well I warned you guys about this place.
Jackson/Millie/bruce: We're sorry.
Dove: (smirks) I'll forgive later, let's find a way outta this danger zone.
We snuck past numerous vampires on the street carefully avoiding being seen. Once we reached the forests we made a run for it and I could hear the vampires chasing us from behind, adrenaline sparked through me as we ran. Eventually I saw the end of the forest and light peeping through it, we were almost out.
Dove: There's our exit.
Bruce: We're free!
As me, Bruce and Jackson reached the light. Millie was suddenly pulled back, I spun around and saw Karina her blood red eyes glowing, she held onto Millie so tight that she couldn't escape. The other vampires appeared wide grins on there face. There was nothing we could do since they were on the dark side.
Dove: Millie!
Millie: (crying).
Karina: You'll pay for what you did to my dad.
Dove: (mockingly) oh sorry about your daddy.
Karina: You should be, you don't know what the love of a father is, I know you wouldn't since you grew up in a toxic home.
She was right, and I was mad that she was right.
Karina: (strokes Millie's face) This will make up for it though.
Dove: No!!!
Karina: (laughs) We're gonna have a good meal tonight.
Dove: NO!!!
I wanted to charge at her but Bruce and Jackson held me back because it was apparent that I had no chance. Karina laughed more and disappeared along with Millie and the other vampires into the darkness of the forest. I kneeled to the ground tears running down my face. I just lost my best friend, Bruce and Jackson didn't even know what to say, they were sad too. What were we going to do, what would we tell her sick mother when we get back, if we get back.
