He sighed raggedly. There was too much he didn’t know. Too much he couldn’t solve or undo, no matter how much he wanted to. All he could do was deal with the immediate problems as best he could. He spoke her name twice before he got her attention. When she raised her head to look at him, the depths of horror her mind explored were still reflected on her face. He crossed the room in two strides to kneel beside her. “Why don’t you go take a shower and just go on to bed? You can use the bedroom and I’ll sleep here.
