The last moon

As the full moon cast its silvery glow over Ravens Peak, Emilia Grey felt an inexplicable shiver run down her spine. She had always been skeptical of the legend, dismissing it as mere small-town folklore. But tonight, something felt different.

She stood at her bedroom window, gazing out at the moonlit landscape. The trees swayed gently in the breeze, their branches like skeletal fingers reaching for the sky. Emilia's heart beat faster as she recalled the stories her grandmother used to tell her.

"They say that on nights like these, the Shadow Walker roams free," her grandmother would whisper, eyes glinting with a mixture of fear and awe. "A creature of darkness, born from the very shadows themselves. Some say it's a harbinger of doom, while others claim it's a guardian of the peak."

Emilia had always rolled her eyes at the tales, but now, as she gazed out at the moon-drenched night, she felt a creeping sense of unease. It started as a faint prickling sensation on the back of her neck, spreading down her arms and settling in the pit of her stomach.

Suddenly, a faint rustling echoed from outside. Emilia's heart skipped a beat as she stepped back from the window, her eyes scanning the darkness. The sound grew louder, like leaves being stirred by an unseen presence.

She approached the window cautiously, peering out into the night. That's when she saw it: a figure, tall and imposing, standing at the edge of the forest. Its presence seemed to draw the light out of the air, leaving only an aura of darkness.

Emilia's breath caught in her throat. Could it be? The Shadow Walker?

As she watched, transfixed, the figure began to move, gliding across the landscape with an unnatural gait. Emilia felt an overwhelming urge to follow, to uncover the truth behind the legend.

Without thinking, she grabbed her jacket and slipped out into the night, drawn to the mysterious figure like a moth to flame. The darkness seemed to swallow her whole, leaving only the sound of her own heartbeat and the rustling of leaves guiding her toward the unknown.
