Chapter 3 Part 2

(Kiiarda’s P.O.V.) It was the final class of the day. It was also the same day that I start my internship with Hawks. ‘I wonder what we are going to do first.’ I thought as I wrote down the last notes for today. Right as I finished, the bell rang letting us know that school is done for the day. I packed all my stuff up and started walking out the door. Firework and Izu stood by my side as we walked to the dorms. “You know, Deku over here was kinda close to letting your situation out to the teacher. He told him that you said the people that “mugged” you were married.” Firework told me. I looked at Izu as he said, “They won’t get anything from that. There are numerous possibilities and people they could think that did it. I mean……Ow!” He started to mutter, and Firework slapped the back of his head. “Don’t start muttering nerd. We don’t have time for that s**t. When do you start your internship Kii?” he said. “Today at three thirty. I have about fifteen minutes until I have to meet him by the front gate.” I said as we walked up the stairs to our dorms. “I meet up with Tiger tomorrow. There are so many things that he could teach me. I wonder what Hawks is going to teach you though. Maybe you can pick up a few things since you can fly like him! Or maybe…. Ow! Why did you do that, Kacchan?” Izu said. “Stop muttering.” He said as he shoved his hands in his pockets. I gave a little giggle as I walked the rest of the way up the stairs. I didn’t want to be late. I went to my room, grabbed a pair of stretchy jeans, a tank-top, a jacket, and went to the bathroom to change. Once I was done, I put on a pair of black hiking boots and went to the elevator. I pressed the down button and waited. After what felt like forever, I finally reached the first floor and I headed towards the front door as soon as the doors opened. Once I was outside, I started running towards the front gate. ‘How long has it been since I’ve been able to run without my legs being injured?’ I asked myself as I ran. Once I was at the gates, I immediately stopped and looked for Hawks. “Hey Akiyama!” I heard from my right. I looked to see Hawks, leaning against a streetlamp with a smile on his face. “Nice to see you on time. It is very important for Hero’s to be punctual. Unless you’re like me and love to arrive fashionably late. Now for today, we are just going to patrol around for a bit. See if there is anything we can do to help the citizens or if any criminals decide to make an appearance.” He told me as I walked to him. I nodded my head and followed him as we walked in silence. It was a few minutes before he spoke. “You’ve been to school for a week now, right?” he asked me. “Yes. This is my second week here.” I answered. “Are you adjusting well to classes?” “Yes, I am not having too much trouble.” “Okay good. Oh and by the way, next weekend, I want to meet your parents so that I can explain the internship more to them. There may be some weekends that I will need to take you with me, so you won’t be able to go home during that time. Actually, do you think I can talk to them on Wednesday? Only if that works of course.” He spoke. “Umm, I-I think that will w-work. I will j-just let my parents k-know.” I told him. Why does he have to explain the internship to my parents? I don’t want to see them until I have to on the weekend. I don’t wanna go back. “Okay that will be fine. The area we are patrolling now is only one of the routes that I cover. I have multiple areas all over the city. The one we are doing now is a bit closer to the dead center and has a lot of people walking about. There are tons of alley ways where crooks like to hide and make drug deals. Our job as Heroes is to stop them and put them in jail. So we are going to go down some alley ways to see if we can catch them in the act. Okay?” he said. I nodded my head and he said, “Alright then. Make sure to stay behind me. If anything happens, I don’t want you to get hurt.” As we started walking, I made sure to stay behind him like he said. As we walked, he explained what he knew of the area and little shortcuts he uses when chasing a criminal. “It’s been about two hours already. What do you say we stop for something to eat then continue? The patrol doesn’t end until nine anyway.” He suggested. “Um, sure but where would we eat?” I asked. “Oh! We can go to KFC! That is my favorite place to eat!” He said as he walked towards a KFC place down the road. ‘Alright, KFC it is then.’ Once we made it inside, we were greeted by one of the cashiers. “Hello welcome to-oh, hey Hawks! Back again? Who’s that with you?” “Don’t you know it! This is my new intern, Akiyama. Akiyama, this is Kenji. He’s your age and has been working part time here in the evenings.” Hawks explained. I waved ‘hi’ to the cashier. He had short, gold colored hair with matching eyes. He was also short only being about an inch or two taller than Mineta. “Hello, you go to U.A. then right?” He asked. I nodded my head. “Cool, do you know Mineta?” I was about to nod my head when I remember Mineta talking about his boyfriend. “So y-you are the b-boyfriend?” “I didn’t know he was okay with it now. But yes, I am the boyfriend. Nice to meet you. Anyway, what can I get ya?!” “I will take the usual. What do you want Akiyama?” Hawks asked me. I just ordered big thing of Mac & Cheese because I didn’t know what else to get. Kenji put in the order and Hawks paid for everything. “Alright, give us a few minutes and it will be right out. You can sit anywhere you like.” Kenji told us. “I-I will g-get the next o-one.” I told Hawks. “You don’t have to. I can get it.” “B-but I want too.” I pushed. “Okay fine, you can get the next one. Where do you want to sit?” I looked around before pointing towards a booth in the corner. It faces towards the door, and we can see who comes in and out of the place. Once we sat down, Hawks said, “This is a good place to be if your gonna steak out someone. Or if you don’t want to be noticed. Good choice since we are on patrol.” I nodded my head and looked out the window as people walked by. “So, your two friends that you talked about before, who are they?” “O-oh well, it’s Fir-Bakugo and Midoriya. I have known them all my life.” I told him. “Oh really? And Blasty admits that your friends?” he asked. I nodded my head and looked at him confused. “Sorry, Blasty just has a reputation for not being friendly. But if you were able to crack that shell of his then I am glad. He needed somebody to tame him ha-ha.” He said with a little laugh at the end. I gave a little chuckle when Kenji arrived with our food. “Here is your orders. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.” He said and was about to leave when I called out to him. “When are you going to visit Mineta again? He was saying that he missed you earlier today.” “I need special permission to enter U.A. and I don’t have the capabilities to do that. I miss him too.” He said. Hawks got his phone out and called someone. “Hey, I know it’s a bit late, but I have a question.” He said. “I know a student’s boyfriend and I was wondering if he could come to U.A. whenever he wanted to……Yeah….Of course……Yes I will not call you again tonight and let you sleep…….Okay, also, Akiyama will be a little late so don’t punish her. We are still patrolling……..No I am not saying that just so we could eat KFC what do you take me for?.....Okay we are but don’t punish her……..Alright bye.” He said. “Alright, Aizawa is going to make you a badge thing that will allow you access to U.A. whenever you want. And if you go tomorrow, you can get it from him then.” Hawks explained. It was a few moments before a smile burst on Kenji’s face and hugged Hawks. “Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you so much! I can’t believe you did this for me. I really appreciate it!” Kenji said as he hugged Hawks. “No problem, just make sure that I keep getting the good chicken.” Hawks said with a wink. Kenji let out a giggle as he nodded and went back to work. “Thank you for doing that for him. That was nice of you.” I said. “It was nothing. And besides, he’s a good kid. Plus, I know you wanted him to go see Mineta. You have a kind heart.” He said. I let a real smile show on my face and started eating. A little bit later, we were done eating and went back on patrol. We passed a few alleyways and were about to pass another when something caught my eye. Not knowing what it was I pulled Hawks jacket and pointed towards the alley. He nodded and quietly walked in front of me as we entered the alley. “How come you didn’t answer your phone babe? I have been trying to call you for the past hour and since you didn’t answer, I had to meet you on your patrol. Babe why didn’t you answer?” I heard a voice speak. “Shit.” I heard Hawks say. The alley lamp kicked on and I saw a guy with black hair and scars on his body come closer. “Dabi, what the hell?” he asked. “What do you mean? I have been trying to get a hold of you for the past hour babe.” The guy, Dabi, said in response. All Hawks did was step aside so I could be seen. When Dabi saw me, he realized why he didn’t answer. “Is it too late to fight and say I was joking?” he asked with a slight guilty look on his face. “Yes, yes it is. What the hell did you need Dabi?” Hawks stared at Dabi as he explained. “I told you before that I wanted to talk another League member into joining me. I got them to agree to meet up and talk about it. I told you this last week. You don’t remember saying we would meet up tonight?” “Sorry, no I forgot. Who is it?” Hawks asked. Dabi was about to answer when a voice spoke up. “It’s me bird brain.” A girl with blond hair, golden eyes, and a sparkling smile said as she stood next to Dabi. I wanted to say something, but I couldn’t speak. ‘She’s beautiful.’ I thought to myself. I then noticed that my heart skipped a beat. “Well, hi blondie! I didn’t know Dabi was talking about you.” Hawks said. “Are we sure that she won’t tell anyone? What if she tells other people?” Dabi said. They all looked at me and I asked, “Can we move further into the alley, where people won’t see me from the street?” Hawks and Dabi looked at each other before nodding and leading us further into the alley. Once we were a safe distance away from the streets, I looked behind me before turning back and looking at them. “Have you wondered why there are slits on my Hero suit where my back is?” I asked Hawks. He stared at me for a moment before nodding his head. I turned around with my back facing them and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and slowly let my wings out, so it didn’t hurt. Once they were fully out, I turned back around and said, “Your secret is safe with me if mine is with you. No one but two people know that I have wings to go with my quirk. My parents don’t know, and it would not be good if they did. Plus, it’s none of my business what you guys do. Neither is it anyone else’s.” Hawks had a shocked expression and the other two looked at me weirdly. “You didn’t know she had wings?” Dabi asked as he looked at him. “No. Why didn’t you say anything?” he asked me. “When I was younger, people tried to cut my wings saying they were only for villains. They tried to burn them off when they couldn’t get close to me and they released a big fire, I hid them so they wouldn’t keep trying. No one but my two best friends and you three know I still have them.” I explained remembering when my parents tried to burn them off. “Okay. Can you tell me who these people are?” Hawks asked me. “No, they kept a mask on so I can’t give you anything to go off of.” I said looking down. I don’t like lying to them, but I don’t want them worrying about me. “Wait so your parents don’t even know?” Dabi asked me. I froze then said, “No…..I-I don’t think they w-would like to k-know that I have been l-lying to them for s-several years.” I said and looked at the ground. If they found out that I still had my wings, they would do everything they could to burn them off me. “What’s your quirk?” the girl asked. I looked over to her and said. “My quirk is Demon-Angel. I have a demon side and an angel side.” I told her. “Why are your wings two different colors?” she asked as she walked over next to me. “Um…they turn white at the base when my angel is control and fade to black around the edges. It’s reverse when my demon is in control. But when one of them takes over, the whole wing will turn their respective color.” I explained to her. She was much more beautiful up close. “Well, they look cool. It’s a shame you have to hide them.” she told me. I felt my cheeks heat up a little as I said, “U-um thank y-you.” She turned towards Hawks and asked, “How is this deal thing supposed to work? What do I get out of it?” “Well, first when the League gets brought down, you will live like a normal citizen. All charges will be dropped, and it will be like you were never a villain. And if we bring them down soon, you can go to a school of your choosing. The Hero’s would pay for everything.” He said. The beautiful woman looked deep in thought before nodding her head. “Okay. I want in on this deal. I want UA.” Hawks nodded his head and started talking to Dabi. Well he started scolding him for popping up out of nowhere. “Hey, what’s your name?” the girl asked. “Kiiarda Akiyama, you?” “Himiko Toga. Just call me Toga.” She said. ‘So her name is Toga…’ I thought. I looked over at Dabi and saw that he looked a little sad that he was getting yelled at. I didn’t like the look on his face, so I walked over there and said, “Umm, Hawks…It’s not entirely his fault, you didn’t answer your phone when it rang. Actually you weren’t on your phone at all.” Dabi had a big smile on his face and said, “You know what, I like her. You can’t say it’s entirely my fault because you are also to blame.” Hawks just gave a huff. “Fiiiiinnnnnneeeeee it’s not completely your fault but-Oh s**t look at the time. Akiyama we have to go before you end up staying out way past curfew. Aizawa will not be happy with me.” I just nodded my head and was about to start leaving when I turned around and asked them, “When will I see you guys again?” Dabi and Toga looked at each other before one of them spoke up. “Well, since you know about Hawks and me, I don’t need to hide from you so you will be seeing me more often.” “I will be showing up more too now that I accepted the deal.” Toga said. “Okay then. See you soon.” I said and waved as Hawks kissed Dabi goodbye and lead us away from the alley. Right before we went back to the streets, I put my wings away and followed him. “Thank you for not telling anyone.” he said. I just gave him a smile and pointed at my back. He then noticed that my wings were gone and gave a smile in return. “You know, if you ever want to fly around, I know a place in the woods we can go where no one will be able to see you. You can come with me the next time I go.” I gave Hawks a smile and looked at the stars as we walked. “I think I would like that. You can help me train with my wings too right?” “Of course I can! We can start tomorrow! Same time and make sure to wear something that can get dirty and shoes that are good for hiking.” He said with a pep in his step. I was so excited that I started hopping along with him. ‘I can fly again!’ I thought with a big smile on my face. Once we had reached the gates, I turned towards him and said, “Thank you again Hawks, it means a lot.” “No problem, you helped me out too. Tomorrow, make sure to dress warm. I don’t want you freezing.” “I will. Good night Hawks.” I said with a smile. “Good night Akiyama.” A smile was the last thing I saw before he flew off. ‘I wish I could use my wings, so I didn’t have to walk all the way.’ I know it’s nighttime, but I can’t chance someone seeing me. It is a risk that I can’t take. Being so, I walked all the way back to the dorms. I opened the door and walked over to the staircase when I heard a voice. “Your finally back?” I screamed and turned around to see Izuku standing by the kitchen. “I-Izu, please don’t s-scare me like that.” I said thinking back on my parents. “I’m sorry Kiiarda.” He said with a guilty look. “You’re fine Izu, I was just scared for a second.” I told him. “Still, I am sorry. What did you and Hawks do?” He asked as Firework came out of the kitchen and stood by Izu. “Well, we just went on patrol. Then he wanted to stop at KFC, so we stopped there for dinner before continuing on patrol.” “Stop any Villains?” Firework asked from beside Izu, which made him scream because he didn’t notice him. “No, it was a silent patrol. We didn’t catch or see any Villains.” I told him making sure not to say anything about Dabi. Although since Dabi and Toga are working with Hawks, they are no longer Villains. So technically it’s true. I hate lying to them. I know Hawks wouldn’t want me to tell them though, so I kept it to myself like I promised him. “Well, at least you had dinner already. We all ate here but we did put some leftovers in the fridge for you. I even put your name on it so no one would take it.” Izu said. “Thank you Izu. I will also probably be late tomorrow as well. Same time. I think he wants to patrol all this week.” I said to him. “Well at least you don’t have Gran Torino. Old dude can’t stop attacking me every two seconds.” Firework complained. “I had him last year. He’s not that bad. You just have to get used to watching your back the whole time you’re with him. And even then it’s not enough because he still attacks you out of nowhere. He could literally be hiding anywhere right now.” Izu said looking around. “Dude I think you got trauma from that internship.” Firework said with a smirk. “There he is.” I said out of nowhere. Izuku screamed and went behind Firework, while Firework had his hands out in front of him. “I think you both have trauma from him.” I said with a small smile. “Do not. And don’t do that.” Firework said with a small glare. I just shrugged my shoulders as we continued walking up the stairs not thinking of the elevator. “Well, I bid you guys goodnight. We have classes tomorrow and the teachers won’t let up just because we have internships.” Izu said when we made it to his floor. “Goodnight.” I said while Firework gave him a nod. Izu just smiled as Kat, and I continued up the stairs. “How long are these internships supposed to last?” I asked. “I guess this time they are supposed to last a month. Last year it was a week.” He answered. I nodded my head as we went to our dorms. “Goodnight Firework.” “Night Kii.” He said as he walked into his room. I immediately walked into the bathroom and took my shower. After I was done, I laid down, actually excited for the next day.
