Dorian
If anyone had asked me at any point in my five hundred years, if I thought falling in love with a wolf, as a vampire, was possible, I'd have laughed them into the Underworld myself.
Now, here I am and have been for the last two weeks, sulking and pouting about my missed meeting with Hawke while looking over paperwork for one of my construction businesses. The meeting had been something I had been looking forward to for the last two months, since our last one. I wasn't seeing enough of her these days and I hated my position because of that.
I knew she'd be at Blue Rising already, having her Tail inform me the day she got the call. If she'd been anywhere near her apartment when she'd received it, he wouldn't have been able to pick up on it. But she was a die-hard for Dutch coffee.
Blue Rising was a larger pack, the Alpha, Keith Martin, being a close hand of the King’s. He’s more like a general of his armies, though not the appointed one from everything I’ve learned over the years. No, instead he was appointed Advisor to the King, which can only mean one thing about this little mission of Hawke's.
The King knows, or at least suspects, and she's likely walking right into a f.ucking trap. Though I've heard nothing from my Tails throughout the Northern Wolven Kingdom about any royal betrayals. Still, I don't have high hopes for the outcome of this mission for her.
If it's not a trap, then why send the Royal Assassin to the pack of the Advisor?
There is no reason for it. That Alpha knows who she is. Her true face, her true identity and her true skill set. He will know she is there for a purpose, whatever that purpose may be. He may be in on her presence there, or completely aloof, though I'm sure outraged about it.
But why would his King send the Assassin in without his knowledge? Even if she isn't there to kill off the rising Alpha, what other reason for having an Assassin handle a f.ucking rising Alpha is there?
She's not going to be training the girl in the true skill set, even if she does train her some. She's not going to become her bodyguard, because her value to the King has been proven many times over, that I know for a fact. She's not going to be married off because the King wouldn't allow it due to who she is.
Not to mention, she'd kill them if he tried to force her hand, and he knew it. It's probably the only thing I found beneficial to her in the copy of the original contract I had an Omega Tail make for me. Having access to that contract was like having the world handed to me and after thoroughly reading through it and creating and amending my own contracts, I made her sign a completely new set of documents.
Little does the King know, but his little assassin has been mine for a while now. Those new documents she signed, were ensured by my lawyers to force that arrogant King to his knees at the hands of his very own assassin. The agreement she made with me, very eagerly might I add, superseded the King's agreement, through the bylaws of the supernatural Council.
His lawyers were smart, I'll give them that, but for some silly reason, likely being they didn't find it necessary, they never included a clause about ensuring that their document bound the assassin to the King as her only employer. They also never included that she could not end her employment at will.
The dumbest and biggest f.ucking mistakes they could have made, which led to a beautiful opportunity to take the next step with Hawke.
Of course, I haven't told her she's free from the King yet. I don't find any reason for that. She would need her position to exact her revenge on him and if she even got the hint that she could be free, she would jump on it. She's told me so herself in times of desperation, where she's ready to throw in the towel.
So I've kept it from her, knowing she needs to continue onward. She needs to do what she set out to do. I know that revenge on the King is not the only thing she's determined to do. She's mentioned another goal many times over since we met, but she's never given me any detail about what it is. Not that it matters to me, I'll support her in anything she wants to do.
My fondness for my little mortal bloomed with time. Though I wasn't her biggest fan when we met, I saw her potential. And then her smart mouth grew on me. She’s always got something quick to say, some sparky, flirtatious or downright dirty thing that takes my mind places. She was beautiful at nineteen, but at twenty-four…
At twenty-four, I realized she was a Goddess. A Goddess who was created just for me. But I have always been concerned about crossing that line with her. She’s so young when I take my life into consideration, and although she may not live as long, I still find it selfish to want to take any of her years away from her mate.
I had a mate once. It's different for us vampires than it is for werewolves, as we are not soulbound or led to one another by a strong scent. It's something we recognize only after sharing blood, which tends to be a very intimate situation in the first place. Then you take into account that we, as vampires, have blood fetishes and the euphoria of drinking from another can tend to consume us, which makes the session deadly for anyone other than a vampire.
I mated with another vampire. She was a beauty, long lovely blonde locks and green eyes. We'd met in a field a hundred years after I turned. She'd been turned for seventy-five. I knew I loved her from the moment I saw her.
We were together for one hundred and fifty wonderful years before she was murdered by locals who discovered what we were. I destroyed the entire small town. There were no young children there, some teenagers, but mostly adults. They'd all been part of hunting her down anyway.
She'd shown me an image of her death, just moments before the flames consumed her, through our bloodlink. It's how I found out she was dying in the first place, as I woke up in a fit of rage and terror and sweat.
Unlike werewolves, because our mates aren't soul bound, we are like humans in that sense. We might get a bit of a dreadful feeling, but unless we are informed in some way, like I was, there is no other way to know until someone tells you, or you find out on your own.
After destroying the town, I vowed into the Vampire King's service as a tradesman and decided never to seek out another. Not for anything beyond carnal bliss. And being a Vampire, I have very… specific tastes when it comes to getting off. Tastes that need to be satiated every once in a while.
Ever since signing the contract with Hawke myself, I haven't had the opportunity to relieve tension in any carnal way, as I signed away my rights to another. I don't know if she even knows that was part of the agreement. I had actually been wanting to address it when I was going to meet her, but then the King called for me, and she went to Blue Rising, so now, here we the f***k are.
Blue balls and all.
I mean, sure, I've relieved myself, but my hand is starting to become less effective without violent images of my f.ucking Hawke in every position imaginable passing through my psyche.
F.uck it.
Let's do this now.
Get it out there, get it over with and see how she responds.
I take a few deep breaths, calming my nerves at the idea of seeing her in person again. Which was f.ucking laughable when it first hit me that I gave a s.hit about her, as more than a mentor, and then even more laughable when I realized she'd captivated my whole being. I then call the shadows to me, teleporting to the shadowy treeline of Blue Rising. I reached into my pocket and gave her a ring.
She answers after the fourth ring.
“Hey, D!” She says playfully on the other end. I smirk at the silly tone.
“Where are you at right now?” I ask, and she gets the hint immediately.
“Sir, I don't think it's a good idea–”
“It's not up for discussion, blackheart.” I state firmly, cutting her off. I know why she wants to say that it's not a good idea, but I couldn't care less about breaking a few laws right now. I just want to see her before I lose my nerve.
“Back of the building, right side, corner room. And the corner to your left of the window.” She replies immediately, making me smile. My little mortal knows exactly what I expect, she did even before I made her my official Sub. Now, I just hope I don't lose her by bringing feelings into this when I'm not sure that she'll reciprocate. All the flirtations aside, truly feeling for me is entirely different from just wanting to f***k around. And I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted to find out if she felt the same.
I focused my energy on the backside of the building, teleporting to the shadows beneath the trees outside her bedroom. She's standing in the window, which gives me some relief as I didn't really want to pop in on anyone else. I focused again on the feeling the shadows in her room, teleporting myself once more into her space.
