2. Chapter 2
Dr. Son Dien is always comfortable at a tea ceremony, sitting in silence with other elderly friends. Now very few people still hold the tea ceremony. He considers himself an amateur, because from his childhood home in California there was no such tea room. His parents were too busy and too anxious to cope with the new country to teach their children what they remembered. It is such an honor for Dr. Son Dien to become a friend as well as a physician for Mac Su's family. He confessed to his old friend that he returned to his homeland as a foreigner, and had to study to become a Japanese.
