Part seven 7.1The alarm clock woke Ted up suddenly. For a moment he was staring at the ceiling trying to remember where he actually was. He slept dreamlessly. The nights had changed into strings of total darkness since he started to wash down a few sleeping pills with half a bottle of wine. Otherwise, because of the jet-lag and the tumbling emotions which he was filled with, it would be impossible for him to fall asleep. Everything was carefully planned, had a steady rhythm which he adopted and which he consequently observed. He got up, overcoming with difficulty the numbness in his muscles.
