Pingcheng No. 1 High School It is now late March, and there are less than three months until the college entrance examination. Nancy Gu walked into the classroom just as the class bell rang. Most of the students were already seated, and when she entered, dozens of eyes turned to look at her in unison. Upon seeing Nancy Gu walk in, everyone showed expressions of surprise. The girl was dressed in a loose blue-and-white school uniform with her sleeves rolled up, revealing a section of her fair arms. Her backpack casually hung over one shoulder, and her soft long hair was tied back in a ponytail, exposing her delicate and bright features. Her skin was snow-white, almost translucent under the morning sunlight; even though she wore an oversized uniform that didn’t fit well, she still looked breathtakingly beautiful. A murmur spread through the classroom. “It's all over the internet; how can she still dare to come to school?” “Maybe she's got a good mindset; if it were me, I wouldn't have dared to go out.” “My friend asked me yesterday if she’s from our school; I said I didn't know her because I was afraid my friend would laugh at me. Actually, we’re not only from the same school but also from the same class—what bad luck. ” Ignoring those voices around her, Nancy Gu walked straight to her seat. When she saw that all her review materials on the desk had been torn apart, her cold eyes slowly narrowed. “Who did this?” Her voice wasn’t loud but carried an air of menace. The students were all around seventeen or eighteen years old; seeing Nancy Gu's expression made them feel inexplicably flustered for a moment. Why does this country bumpkin suddenly have such a terrifying gaze today? At that moment, a chubby boy sitting in the corner laughed mockingly. “I tore your books; what are you going to do about it?” Nancy Gu looked at that chubby boy; his name was Yan Cai, and his parents made their fortune in real estate—he was considered a wealthy second-generation kid in Pingcheng. Thus he had always been arrogant at school because of his parents' status; even the school leaders didn’t dare say much to him. Since Nancy Gu transferred to Pingcheng No. 1 High School these past few months, Yan Cai had bullied her quite often. Seeing Nancy Gu silent now only emboldened Yan Cai further. He toyed with several pieces of chalk in his hand and threw them one by one at Nancy Gu. “Country bumpkin, why aren’t you talking? Are you deaf?” Yan Cai was an obsessive fan of Xena Gu; ever since he attended one of Xena's piano concerts with his mother, he couldn’t get enough of Xena. With everything happening online regarding Nancy Gu lately, as a fanboy he naturally wanted to defend his goddess. Nancy Gu tugged at the corners of her lips as a cold glint flashed through her eyes. She took off her backpack from her shoulder and tossed it onto the chair. In front of everyone’s gaze, she walked slowly up to Yan Cai and threw a punch before anyone could figure out what she intended to do. When it's time to act, she never liked wasting words. “Bang! Bang!” After several strikes went down, there was complete silence in the room. Yan Cai covered his swollen face like a pig's head while staring incredulously at the girl before him. “You’ve got guts, Nancy Gu! You actually dared to hit me? You’re finished!” Nancy Gu sneered again and landed several more punches on him. “Ah!” Yan Cai screamed repeatedly from pain. He covered his head and stood up wanting to retaliate back, but before he could even leave his seat properly, a foot came down directly on his chest, forcing his two-hundred-pound body against the wall. The girl leaned slightly forward, looking down at him from above. Yan Cai was so hurt he couldn’t speak anymore; he felt both angry and resentful but no longer dared utter another word. At this moment there was dead silence in Class Four. The students who initially watched with amusement now displayed shocked expressions. Is this really that country bumpkin Nancy Gu? How… how did she suddenly seem like a different person? In these few months since arriving in Class Four, everyone liked bullying her, but she had always been timid; even when people scolded her right in front of her face, she would just lower her head without saying anything. The more weak-willed she seemed, the more students enjoyed targeting her. So when Nancy Gu hit Yan Cai, the entire class remained stunned for quite some time. Yan Cai had always been arrogant; after being hit by Nancy Gu today, he felt utterly humiliated. Nancy Gu retracted her leg and turned back toward her seat. During this time everyone stared at her, but no one dared say anything further. Before coming to school today, she had anticipated such an outcome. The original owner’s personality was too introverted; combined with some insecurity due to being treated coldly by family after coming into the Gu household, over time she'd continuously denied herself inside. She always believed that Dad didn’t like her because she wasn’t as outstanding as Sister. Classmates bullied her because of poor grades; she consistently ranked last during exams which severely dragged down their class ranking. So everything must be blamed on herself; all she could do was silently endure it. However now Nancy Gu wasn’t someone who could be easily victimized anymore; she clearly understood that none of this was truly faulting hers. Today’s display served as both warning and lesson for everyone: she too has limits they shouldn’t cross. Yan Cai glared fiercely at her with eyes sharp like knives. In Pingcheng No. 1 High School, only he held qualifications for arrogance before others; today being beaten by this country bumpkin made him feel like his pride had been thoroughly trampled into dirt by Nancy Gu. If he didn’t teach this lesson properly, wouldn’t others laugh at him endlessly? “Nancy Gu! Just wait!” Leaving behind those harsh words, Yan Cai stormed out of the classroom angrily. Half an hour later a woman dressed in mink fur entered alongside Yan Cai. That woman scanned around angrily across the classroom. “Which little brat hit my son?” “Mom! It’s that one,” Yan Cai pointed towards Nancy’s direction with disdainful fingers. Students who previously hadn’t dared speak up began buzzing again excitedly: “The Young Master’s mom is here! This time Nancy is done for.” “Heh! Letting herself run wild—daring even hit Young Master! She’ll definitely be expelled.” “How wonderful! Finally getting rid of this jinx!” Liu Min shot over icy glares before strutting towards Nancy wearing seven-centimeter heels clacking loudly against floor tiles "You little b***h, a country bumpkin like you dares to hit my son?" As Liu Min spoke, she raised her arm, ready to slap Nancy Gu's face in anger. She wanted nothing more than to tear this little b***h's face apart. However, before her arm could reach Nancy Gu's face, a hand firmly gripped her wrist. The girl's wrist was slender and fair, yet it held an incredibly strong force, causing Liu Min's heavily made-up face to contort in pain. Nancy Gu released her grip: "Stay away from me." Her voice was cool and crisp, exuding an intimidating aura.
