Nancy Gu was already being cornered by two burly men from both sides. Both of them wore sinister smiles and reached out towards her chest.
Luke Bai shook his head, "Tsk tsk, what a couple of greasy pigs! Jason, as single dogs, we shouldn't miss any good opportunities!" He looked at the man beside him for confirmation. "Should we intervene?"
The man remained silent, the cigarette butt between his fingers glimmering with starlight as the thin smoke curled around his face hidden in the shadows. His eyes narrowed slightly, and with a calm demeanor, he brought the cigarette to his lips and exhaled a cloud of misty smoke.
It was just a casual smoking gesture, but it carried an inexplicable allure.
While the two were chatting idly, Nancy Gu made her move. She swiftly sidestepped to avoid the men's groping hands and then leaped into the air, her fiery red figure tracing a graceful arc in midair. Her long skirt fluttered as she kicked one of them squarely in the face.
The force was tremendous; with just one kick, she sent both men flying several meters away. The sound of "bang bang" echoed as they hit the ground heavily.
From above, Nancy Gu looked down at them disdainfully. "Get lost!
"
Seeing they had encountered someone tough, the two muscular men stumbled to their feet and fled in panic.
In a corner, Mason Mo stared wide-eyed: "Wow! One move and it's over? Looks like we won't get our chance to shine..."
Jason Fu squinted slightly in surprise; who was this girl?
Nancy Gu turned her gaze toward the two hidden in shadows. "Have you seen enough?"
Luke Bai awkwardly stepped out from his hiding spot with his signature warm smile plastered on his face. "Wow! You're amazing! With skills like that, you must be trained! Let me introduce myself; I happened to pass by and saw you being bullied by those two big guys—I was furious and wanted to help deal with them but ended up watching you take care of it."
He had observed closely; this girl’s speed was extraordinary—definitely not your average martial arts styles like Taekwondo or Judo.
He was genuinely curious about where she learned such skills.
Nancy Gu tugged at her lips slightly. She had noticed them from the beginning; if they wanted to help her, they would have done so much earlier. Those who spoke nicely rarely took action.
Her cold gaze fell on Luke Bai: “I need to borrow your jacket.”
Luke Bai froze for a moment: “Huh?
You want to borrow my jacket?” Why would she want to borrow his jacket? Could it be… she liked him and wanted an opportunity to get closer?
Thinking this way made Luke Bai ecstatic; he felt love might finally be knocking at his door. If he could finally find someone special, he could proudly tease Jason about being single!
Seeing that Luke Bai didn’t respond immediately, Nancy Gu assumed he wasn’t willing to lend it out and explained further: “My current outfit isn’t suitable for going out; you can give me your address so I can return it clean later.”
“His jacket hasn’t been washed in days; just borrow mine.” Jason Fu tossed aside his cigarette butt into a nearby trash bin and walked over slowly.
Nancy Gu glanced at Jason Fu stepping out of the shadows; there was a glimmer in her eyes.
The man appeared to be in his twenties—tall with an icy demeanor—his striking features were captivating. His deep black pupils shimmered with hints of dark purple light that made his eyes seem even more profound and inscrutable. His slightly raised phoenix-like eyebrows conveyed an air of aloofness that suggested he wasn't easy to approach.
His stunning looks combined Eastern handsomeness with Western aristocratic elegance—a perfect blend that seemed contradictory yet harmonious on him.
Underneath soft fog-like lighting, he walked up slowly before her and draped his jacket over her shoulders.
The jacket still held some warmth from him; warmth spread quickly along her back while a faint sandalwood scent lingered near her nose—making Nancy Gu's previously muddled thoughts clear up somewhat as she squinted slightly.
“Thank you! Please leave me your address so I can return it after washing,” she said politely.
“Why not exchange contact information? What if you're here when I'm not home?” Jason Fu naturally pulled out a sleek black phone from his pocket.
Beside them, Luke Bai snapped back into reality looking anxious: “Miss! You just said you wanted my jacket! We can't be so unprincipled—I’m happy to lend it!”
Nancy Gu silently glanced at Luke Bai's jacket before frowning slightly—it hadn’t been washed for days after all. “Thanks for your kindness but this gentleman has already lent me one.”
Disappointment flickered across Luke Bai’s eyes as if he had fallen from cloud nine instantly. Was this beautiful romance over before it even began?
He shot an annoyed glare at Jason Fu beside him while feeling suspicious—wasn’t Jason always aloof? Was he finally coming around?
Wait a minute—who said my jacket hadn’t been washed? It was only washed yesterday!!
Nancy Gu glanced at Jason Fu's phone screen; given today’s advanced communication technology through smartphones without needing physical presence—it resembled their telepathic connection but on a lower level. With memories from the original owner intact within her mind, she understood what Jason Fu meant. “Let’s add each other on WeChat; my ID is ******.”
Jason Fu tapped on his phone several times. “What name should I save?”
“Nancy Gu—thank you!”
Jason Fu smiled faintly: “No need for thanks—it feels too distant.”
Nancy Gu: “…”
Luke Bai widened his eyes incredulously staring at Jason Fu. This guy seemed unusually talkative today—almost more flirty than himself!
All Nancy Gu thought was that since someone kindly lent her clothes—it warranted gratitude. “If convenient when I return your clothes—I’d like to treat you both to dinner.”
Before Jason could respond, Luke Bai grinned slyly: “You don’t mind having another mouth around?”
Nancy Gu nodded lightly: “You’re welcome too.”
Jason Fu smiled indifferently agreeing: “Then I’ll gladly accept.”
“I’ll take my leave now.” Luke Bai waved cheerfully: “See you next time!
”
Jason Fu merely watched silently without saying anything as Nancy left. Once she departed, Luke Bai turned thoughtfully towards him: “Jason! That wasn’t cool—you totally interrupted when she wanted my jacket! Hmph! You actively offered warmth while making excuses about adding WeChat contacts—if there aren’t any ulterior motives behind that behavior then color me surprised!”
Jason Fu had always been aloof towards women—not interested—and treated everyone politely yet distantly—a true enigma known for disregarding others entirely. His unusual behavior today definitely hinted something significant!
Ignoring Luke Bai’s ramblings completely—he leaned lazily against the wall staring intently at an oil painting titled 'The Female Fortune Teller' hanging nearby. His long lashes fluttered slightly as he smirked subtly.
Hilton Hotel As soon as Nancy stepped outside—the sight of an angry group heading straight toward her caught her attention. Leading them—a middle-aged man stormed right up angrily confronting Nancy directly—as if ready to tear into pieces right there! “Nancy Gu—you’ve embarrassed our family beyond measure! Look what you've done!”
The middle-aged man brandished his phone showing video footage where Nancy entered a room followed shortly by Mo Jiang minutes later.
“The internet is buzzing about how you're seducing Mo Jiang—and you're still daring enough to meet him here?! How did I end up raising such shameless offspring?!”
Standing next to Tim Gu—a middle-aged woman mocked coldly: “At such young age instead of learning properly—you’re trying seduce men just like your deceased mother!”
Nancy turned towards that woman sharply: “Perhaps you've forgotten how exactly you became Mrs. Gu?”
That simple remark struck hard like hammer hitting metal causing Ella Zhou's expression turn extremely awkward instantly.
