Jasper’s POV The beam from the helicopter crawled over the side of the truck, spilling into our narrow hiding space. It caught the glint of the sweat on Hughes’s jaw and the pale oval of Scarlett’s face against my chest. She tensed when the light touched her, like she thought it could burn. I pressed my palm against the back of her head, tucking her closer, my eyes darting over the lot. We had two options. Both bad. Option one: make a run for the gate, hope Hughes could cut through the lock before they landed.
