Scarlett’s POV I don’t know what pulled me back toward Maria’s former bedroom. Something inside me, instinct or paranoia or pure exhaustion, kept whispering that her betrayal went deeper. I opened the door. The room was untouched since I’d asked her to leave. But something about it still felt… wrong. I began checking. Drawers. Behind the mirror. Under the bed. Nothing.
