Twenty Seven

SR: Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved twenty-seven. Eryn. "You keep running it's all you do!" Marina shouted at me, standing in front of me. "It's all I know how to do!" I snapped, shoving my legs into grey drawstring sweats. I slipped on a sports bra and grabbed a sweater, zipping it to the top and throwing my hood on. I needed to let out some steam. "It's unfair to tell me to go back when my friend has to stay behind. Ally would need someone she trusts to be here for her. You must understand more than I that what she's going through is horrible," Marina reasoned, catching a black v-neck I threw at her. I couldn't look at her naked body as she talked to me. She shrugged on the shirt, her hair getting covered by the shirt. She tugged her hair out from it, the damp locks falling past her shoulders. "It's too dangerous for you to be here. Lucinda most likely will still be looking for you all. You'd be safe off land," I desperately said, upset of why she wasn't listening to me.  "She barely knows what I look like in human form. Flynn and Sydney would go back. It would be only right," Marina countered, raising her head in defiance. I sighed, breaking my resolve. "If I feel it's hard for Ally to have you here you have to promise you'll go back. I'm not only doing this because of me. I'm doing it for your friend." "Eryn... thank you. I don't know what's it's like to turn someone, but I'm sure it's no easy feat," her eyes softened as she stared at me. I narrowed my eyes in anger. "Don't you give me that look." "What do you mean?" "Just shut up," I groaned, sick of hearing how grateful she was to me. I gave her nothing but anguish. If it wasn't for me her friend wouldn't be a vampire right now. Her friends wouldn't have been captured. If I just left her alone the first time I saw her... "Blaming yourself for everything that has happened to me isn't going to get you anywhere," Marina murmured, placing a hand on my cheek. She turned my head and forced me to look at her, "I want to be here, with you." My breath stalled in my chest and I met her blue-eyed gaze. There was something honest in her doe eyes that tempted the dark part of me. I couldn't help but think of the sounds she made as I tasted her, had my fingers inside her. She woke something primal in me that I haven't felt in years. Being with women as fun and all, but it got repetitive. Being with Lucinda reminded me of that. Marina, on the other hand, pumped desire into my veins. Pure need. "Stop saying such things," I grated, yanking my chin from her grip. It made it too easy to get comfortable with her when she said these things. Up until now I never have seen her in her mer-form. If I let myself go even a bit, she would've been torn to shreds. "Why? This is how I feel, why should I hide it from you?" "Didn't vampires kill your sister? How could you even be this close to someone who could've easily killed her?" I snapped, slipping on my shoes. Her eyes widened. "Because I know you didn't kill her." Marina looked up at me angrily, "don't bring up my sister like that!"  I turned my back to her, opening the door of my room and slamming it behind me. I took a step and felt the air whoosh around me, my vision zeroing in at the woods in front of me. I took a sigh of relief as the cold air soothed me, bringing down the mess of emotions that threatened to bubble over. "When are you going to tell her?" I feel the presence of Sagan behind me. I sighed, turning around to face her. Her skin was pulling itself back together over a large gash above her eye. Her arm was burned and slightly deformed. The scent of burnt flesh wafted towards me. "What happened to you?" "Luce has some new tricks up her sleeve," her arm slowly began to mend itself together, connecting tendons and nerves. Eventually, her forearm only showed a light pink scar, "Did you tell her? I wish I would've caught her reaction." I leaned against a tree, running a hand through my hair. How could I tell her that? How could I be the one to tell her that I killed her sister? "We're not sure if it's true." "Yeah but remember? You know Marina is a spitting image of Neri. I'm surprised you even remember her name," Sagan chuckled darkly.  "I didn't tell her!" I snarled, my fangs lengthening.  "See, I knew you were a sorry excuse for a vampire, but now you're going to act like a sorry excuse for a human too? Look how far low you have gotten, groveling about a woman. Act your century," she sneered, resting her back against a tree. I looked down at frozen dirt, wondering what would Marina's reaction be if I told her I knew about her sister. She would become hopeful. Then I would have to tell her that I think I was the one that killed her... by accident.  "Funny thing about mermaids, they like to run in packs," Luce smirked, licking her lips. Two girls laid on the floor in front of her, their clothing ripping and limbs bloody. I held a girl with dark brown hair blonde highlights. Her cerulean eyes were lifeless as the blood in her body wasn't enough to keep her alive. Her heartbeat slowed and I sat there listening to the weak rhythm. I licked the blood dribbling from the wounds on her neck. Her breasts were wounded as well, my fangs puncturing her delicious breasts. She tasted so good.  "Eryn... " Luce approached me, a blood drunk smirk on her face, "look at her tattoos, she's of royal blood." I glanced down and my vision blurred, the blood already making its way to my head. It took a moment for my eyes to focus on her arm, the thick black lines forming three lines that circled around itself. An impish grin curled the ends of my mouth. "Is that why she tasted so good?" "Her p***y or her blood?" Luce pouted, sinking her fangs into her wrist, suckling the last of her blood. "Both,"  I murmured against her hair, taking in the scent of rose.  I painfully pulled myself out of my memory. "She could be lying. Neri was alive when I left her." "You were still a part of it," Sagan always had the last word. She walked away from me, heading towards the house. I sighed, hating how her last word replayed over and over in my head. "You were still a part of it."
