Chapter 18Violet awoke on the morning of May 1st in a cold sweat. A chill had crept in through the cracks of the cabin and roused her hours before sunrise. They were no longer staying at the cozy boarding house by the bay. No, they had checked out exactly five days ago to help build up their alibi. That kind of comfort, it seemed, was a luxury they could only afford for a short time.
