Chapter 2: Luryana and I immediately prepared for our mission. She had no objection when I told her that my father wanted her to be with me on my journey on the land of the humans. She was thrilled when she find out and obviously couldn’t wait for us to leave. Even the condition of my royal father putting a spell on her, she also did not object. If it was for my safety, she was ready to do it. Using my father's power, he gave Luryana legs which she really liked a lot and immediately stood up and jumped. She almost fell down, she was lucky I catch her. She was also given a temporary ability to breathe because she has no more legs, she lost the ability to breathe in the water. I also hid my long pointed ears. Because we only have limited time so we really need to prepare. Father explained how we could get to the land of the humans. We will pass through a portal that father will build. The place we will exit using the portal is the place where we will meet a former royal mermaid who is half human and half mermaid. Heraya. She wasn't blessed with a tail like I was, but she couldn't breathe underwater. So she lives in the human world. However she still has the ability to control the water and one of her unique abilities is stopping time. She lives in a village near the beach. She can't be far from the sea water because her body is looking for salt water and she needs it because she gets weak when the salt water doesn't touch her skin. Maybe it is because she's a half -mermaid. My father had already told her what to do when we got there. I noticed the sadness of my father. I know the reason is because I'm leaving. I hugged him. "I'm sorry father if I have to leave you alone. But I have to do it for mother. Don't worry father, I'll go home safely with you." I sympathize with the sadness he feels. He just returned the hug and nodded at us. It's time for us to leave.  Father raised his right hand and it shone. Gradually a small ball of fire appeared that grew bigger and bigger until it was twice the size of us and the fire that surrounded it disappeared, only pure white could be seen in it. Luryana and I held hands and for the last time I turned to my father and smiled. "Be careful my dear..." He said goodbye for the last time and I nodded, Luryana and I stepped into the portal. In the land of the human: Step by step on the other side we were greeted by darkness and cold air. We almost fell because we lost our balance because of Luryana's new feet. "It's good that you're here."  Luryana and I turned to the one who spoke on our left side. She was probably Heraya. She was so beautiful, she seemed to be at our age but we knew she was a few years older than us. Maybe a lot older than us. "I'm Samanea. And this is Luryana my friend." I politely said. "Nice to meet you. I'm Heraya. Let's go and we might miss the bus." She answered back. Wondering what she was referring to we followed her. We are somewhat new to the darkness because we are accustomed to the light in the kingdom. There was a little light coming from the circle above us. I don’t know what to call it. Luryana clung to my arm because she was afraid of falling while walking. "It's really dark here in the world of human." Luryana whispered to me that I just nodded. Soon we saw a light. Until we get close to a.... We honestly don't know what to call. And we were surprised at how many humans were there. Someone is standing, someone is sitting. But no one is moving. "You two, come to me and I'll give you the information you need to know here in the human world. You can't always be surprised every time you see people."  "What people?" Luryana asked full of curiosity. "What you call human in your world are called people here." She explained while looking from left to right. We nodded at her and approached to her. Then her two hands touched our head and her hands emmit a light, I close my eyes because of it. And in an instant I learned a lot. I feel like I have lived in the world of people for a long time. I didn’t know she had this ability. Maybe my father didn't know it either. She had lived in the human world for a long time. Even the change of civilization she informed us. How people grow and become wise. In fact, Heraya is even older than my father is. But surprisingly, her appearance did not change. "Maybe that's enough so that people won't call you weirdos." We were even shocked when she spoke, thats when we realize it was over. "You're harsh on calling us weirdos you know." Luryana immediately covered her mouth after saying those words. I laughed a little. "I'm sorry." She apologized and then bow her head. Maybe she already knew that Heraya is older than us. Heraya smiled. "It's okay. You'll get used to the world of people quickly. Just don't talk to anyone. It's too dangerous. Just follow me. We'll only have a short trip." Luryana and I nodded again. Our nods become more frequent. Luryana clung to my arm when she saw Heraya raise her hands. She flicked three times and the people began to move as if nothing had happened. Heraya left us for a while to buy a ticket. When she returned, our bus arrived just in time. We sat in the third seat so we wouldn't be separated. There are really many people. Our ride was also air conditioned. It’s really surprising that in a flash I almost knew what was going on here in the human world. Surprisingly horrible also, because Heraya also showed us how cruel other people here on earth are. In less than an hour we landed in a small town. The three of us even rode the tricycle which took only fifteen minutes when we reached the medium -sized blue house. Behind it is the beach. I immediately missed my father when I looked at the ocean. I turned to Luryana as she slightly pulled my arm. We are about to get off the tricycle. I just scratched my head. We have already gone down. "Oh Hera, who are those with you. Beautiful girl ah." Greetings from an old man to Heraya. Her nickname is probably Hera. Where did the 'nickname' come from. Nevermind. Now I'm really talking to myself. "My cousins, they're from Manila, Tata Karlo. Just on vacation." Heraya replied with a smile. So we also smiled slightly at the old man. "Well then.. I've just passed. Welcome beautiful ladies to our village. Don't be ashamed to knock on our door when you need something. My wife Magda and I leaves there."  He said while pointing at the house not far from Heraya's house. "Thank you." Luryana and I answered at the same time. He just nodded and left. We entered the fence of Heraya's house made of bamboo. Her house is fine. Very clean and fully equipped. We sat on the sofa to relax. When Heraya caught our attention. "Just as I introduced you to Tata Karlo, you will do the same when someone from the village asks you. Just call me Heraya and don't give me too much elderly respect, if you know what I mean, they might notice. I know people here because I'm the youngest here living alone. I've been living here for five years. But it's only a matter of time and I'll move again. " Mixed with sadness were the last words she said. "What do you mean?" With courage I asked. "As you can see in the memories I handed to you, my outward appearance does not change. But my body is about to weaken. My soul is aging. I need to meet who set to be destined for me so that my soul can live again. " she explained to us. "It's really true. That what kills other mermaids is that they don't meet who's destined for them." I said, that Heraya nodded approvingly. "By the way, change your clothes. Just use my clothes because we're the same size." We immediately understood what she meant. It is important in the world of people to change clothes and take a bath every day. So you won't stink. Under the sea, you don't have to take a bath, do you? Hello? we are soaked in water. C'mon laugh with me..kidding.. Anyway I had an idea. "Can I take a dip Heraya?" I said to have permission. "C'mon, that's cheating. I can't." Luryana immediately complained. She is not allowed to get wet with salt water. Only normal water is allowed. But when she gets wet with salt water her tail will come back and it will take an hour before it returns to being a foot. That's what father told us. "Oh go ahead. I know your situation. 'The King' Rome has already told me. Don't stay too long Samanea. We're going to eat, I'll just cook." I smiled and nodded to Heraya and waved to Luryana before leaving the house. Her face is frustated and that just make me laugh. I have already walked along the seaside. I immediately miss dad. Now I feel sad. I was surprised that the hot weather earlier got a little darker. Good heavens! I remembered my father's order. I need to take care of my emotions. He seems to be right. I haven’t had a day here in the world of humans but my ability is coming out right away. I cooled myself and forced myself to focus on the blue ocean. Very beautiful. And suddenly it warmed up. Alas, this is really serious.  "Miss .." I turned to the one who call my attention. Goodness.. A handsome man. I was still slightly stunned. And I was surprised when he pulled me slightly into the side of him as if protecting me from something. Then I noticed that a boat was passing by. Gosh.. That's embarrassing. I was still having a moment earlier. "I'm sorry." I apologize to those who lift the boat. They just smiled at me. Maybe they know I'm just new here. "Are you the new one here?" I looked again at the handsome man when he spoke. "Ah yes, I'm sorry. I didn't hear you call. I'm just really mesmerized by the ocean." I told him and I looked at the sea again. I saw the boat earlier that was going to the sea. "I'm Jake." The handsome man introduced himself so I looked at him again. I reached out his hand waiting for my introduction as well. "Samanea. Just Sam." I already thought of a nickname. Hurray! "Nice name. Suits you." I was embarrassed by his compliment. So I just smiled a little and looked back at the sea. "Is it your first time to go to the beach?" He asked. I answered him without looking back. "No. It's only now that I've seen how beautiful the sea is." "Samanea !!" I turned to the one who shout. It's Luryana, she's also waving. "All right Jake. I'll go ahead. Nice to meet you." I smiled as waved my goodbye to him and turned away. I no longer waited for him to answer. I ran to Luryana's whereabouts and pulled her to Heraya's house. "Who's that Samanea?" That was Luryana's third question before we entered the house. "He's handsome ..." She added. "Who?" Heraya asked coming out of the kitchen still wearing an apron.  "Samanea is supposed to take a dip, but instead she is talking with a handsome man on the seaside." Luryana complained. I laughed a little. "He's Jake. I met him because he drove me out of the boat lane that I blocked, I didn't realize there was a boat lifted to the seaside." I explained while sitting on the sofa. "Ah, Jake. He's nice. He's just a newcomer here, he's only been living here for a year. But he's too mysterious. He suddenly appeared out of nowhere." Heraya added that made us a bit shocked. "Really? Even more mysterious than you?" Luryana asked Heraya teasingly. "Yes..because when I came here, I know the owner of this house. But him, Tata Carlo just found him on the beach. He doesn't remember anything from his past. Don't know if its true. Sometimes I see him looking at the sea absentmindedly stunned." Heraya explained while shrugging her shoulders. "Maybe he's also a mermaid?" Luryana added still trying to joke around. "That's impossible..because all the mermaids and mermans that will ascend to the world of humans must only have a mission to do. Like you. If he doesn't remember anything, he must have dried up a long time ago if he doesn't know his mission right away. " "Yes, you're right." Luryana nodded in response. I just listen to them. Thingking. I just feel like there is something in him..
