Chapter Thirty-Nine
YEAR 2105
Madison Park, located in Falls Church, Virginia, is a 2.7-acre family-friendly park with lots of amenities. This evening, light rain was falling in the deserted park. Suddenly a spot of bright neon blue light appeared at about waist height. It grew in height and width, and within five seconds, it had grown to about the size of a door. Devin stepped through the portal, then it faded and disappeared.
He stumbled and looked for something to hold onto and a place to sit. As planned, he was next to a pavilion with several picnic tables under it. He grabbed hold of the closest of the shelter’s wood legs to keep his balance as he worked his way to one of the covered picnic tables and dropped onto the seat.
