Chapter Forty-Two
Devin slept soundly in the Becker family’s guest room and was awakened by someone shaking his arm and calling his name.
“Devin, you need to wake up,” Matthew said.
Slowly, Devin started to awaken. He felt disoriented as to his location. Looking out the window, he saw that it was early. The sun was starting to rise. Then he focused on Matthew’s face and things started to come back to him.
“Come on, Devin, get up!”
“What’s wrong?” Devin asked. The anxiety in Matthew’s voice registering with him.
“We have a big problem. Marcus Quimby is dead.”
Devin leaped from the bed. “What happened? He can’t be dead! He’s still alive three years from now. I met him.”
Matthew handed a pocket comp to Devin and triggered an online news broadcast.
