FIVE DAYS LATER
It was again early in the morning, and the same group had gathered again around the long table in the White House’s John F. Kennedy Conference Room, more commonly known as the Situation Room. Everyone here had received the vaccination against X-5207, but there wasn’t yet enough vaccine for the rest of the White House staff, so the Secret Service still strongly regulated who was allowed entrance. No one who hadn’t been vaccinated and then gone twenty-four hours without symptoms was permitted to come in. Everyone who entered the building had to first pass through a diagnostic scanner that checked body temperature and other factors. Anything out of a normal baseline got them diverted to a triage area that had been set up on the White House grounds.
