Every part of Xenia wanted to go back to him. Telling her this was how it should be, but the moment he said those words, with a voice that was no longer human, a fire lit under her feet. Rodin. She cursed herself when she moved toward the woods instead of the packhouse. She knew the doors wouldn’t keep a beast like Rodin away from her. This…this was Rodin’s playground. His fantasy, and she fell right into it.
“They are coming for us,” Nova said without hiding her excitement.
Those words echoed inside Xenia’s head and through her body, and she could feel Nova wanting to take over. Xenia was initially scared, thinking Nova would run right back to him, but that was not what Nova wanted. Nova wanted the chase just as much as Rodin. She pushed Xenia to sprint through the dark forest.
