AUTHOR’S NOTES AND THANKS It has not been easy to revise a text written more than a decade ago. The writing style has changed, the genre to which I dedicate myself has changed, historical novel rather than thriller, the city of Jesi itself has changed with the historic repositioning of the fountain of the lions and the adjoining obelisk from Piazza Federico II to Piazza della Repubblica. A change that makes the places described in the course of the novel different. But that's not all. Rereading a text a long time after you wrote it makes you notice errors, even stupid ones that had escaped at the time.
