Before going down on me.....ugh my mind is in the gutter today. I mean before going to any more details let me introduce the people at work and how I began working here. CEO and owner of Ali landscapes is Ali Ziyad Ahmed, 28 years old and second son of a business tycoon. He started his own company 3 and a half years ago with his three childhood friends who are now the 3 team leaders; Sara Layal, Penn Rudy and Ayan Abbad. According to the Istanbul highlights newspaper, Ali didn't take his father's money for his business, being the typical middle child he wanted to make noise and be seen. So he created an online shopping app and with the profits created his start up. I joined 6 months after the company was launched and in business, Sara Layal, my team leader who also happens to be my aunt referred me to him. Since the final year of my interior design degree began, Aunty Sara has been promising me a job here, I wasn't too interested in joining a start up. Especially as a fresh graduate it would be quite overwhelming but being the oldest and dearest niece I really had no choice. I met Ali for the first time at my aunty's home, she had a party for her husband's promotion and decided it was time to use nepotism and make the boss meet me. No doubt he was drop dead handsome and made it unfair by being so tender and charming, but that was it for me. He was already my boss in my head, it wasn't easy to get the job though. He put me through a series of tasks until proven that I was familiar with majority of the role of main designer and that I was indeed a suitable asset to him. Through out the years I focused on work and nobody else's business, not his relationships or my colleague's personal lives. But as a typical eldest child I was everyone's emergency contact, metaphorically. I became the savior at work for many mishaps and emergencies, I learnt everyone's coffee orders just so on a random Tuesday I could treat them all. I was the unofficial assistant to all the team leaders except the main boss. He and I was never in immediate contact unless Team A had a meeting with him and I had to step up as main designer. My family was never in need of a bread winner, my mother is Italian so my father and her opened an Italian restaurant that grew into a local chain of restaurants all over Turkey. They gave me and my siblings a comfortable life but after the death of my little sister I became a pillar for my parents to rest on. They lost a part of themselves with her and instead of regaining it they turned to me, I didn't wait for them to ask me before I became second in command after my father and started managing the house. Work was my escape but I never let it get personal, my relationship with my colleagues and superiors were always formal. Ofcourse with Sara my aunt there wasn't any of that but she and I knew never to involve anyone else into that bubble atleast we didn't find it necessary. Not to say I had no friends, I made strong friendships in college, two of them to be specific; Layla and Esra.
