CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Tuesday. Waking before dawn, Charlotte packed up the blankets as quietly as she could and changed back into her clothes from yesterday. The house was silent and dark as she slipped out through the front door, closing it with a click which she hoped wouldn’t disturb Rosie or Trev. She left a note on the counter to let Rosie know she’d open the bookshop and not to hurry in. The rain was gone leaving the air fresh and with a slight scent of spring. It was too early for it yet, but jonquils insisted otherwise, popping their yellow centred white flowers through garden beds to deliver a lingering perfume.
