CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT “Charlotte, your phone beeped.” Harpreet was behind the counter in her shop, tapping on a keyboard. “How is your hearing so good?” Charlotte had left her phone and keys on a counter near the door when Harpreet invited her in half an hour ago. They’d both been at the supermarket and when Charlotte showed her the images from the waterfall, Harpreet told her it was time for a drink while she had a better look. “You forget. I still work at the restaurant some nights and have to hone my hearing in over the music and my parents shouting at each other.” She giggled. “Don’t tell them I said that.
