Avery called me on Thursday with the first piece of good news.
"Martin has the original file," she said. "He's cooperating. He says Caleb sent him an electronic copy of the old signature page and instructed him to attach it to the sale packet."
"Did Martin know I hadn't approved the sale?"
"He says he believed Caleb had your consent. He also says Caleb told him you were at the greenhouse and had signed in person."
I sat down on the packing table. "I was at the medical clinic with my mother that day."
"I saw the appointment record you sent. Martin has agreed to provide the email chain."
"Does that prove Caleb forged it?"
"It proves he supplied the signature. We still need to establish what he believed he was allowed to do. Keep every message. Don't speculate in writing."
