" Are you feeling better now? " Melody's mother asked her.
" Yep ..." Melody nodded. " But my butt hurts and my legs feel numb." Melody added. Upon hearing this, Alice called the servants and the doctor to put her daughter back to bed.
" I'm very sorry sweetheart, does your butt still hurt? " She felt guilty for letting her daughter sit on the floor like that, knowing that she was injured.
" It's fine . I just missed you so much mom. " said Melody, her eyes were twinkling with happiness.
" Missed me? But we haven't been apart for that long, silly. " Alice was a bit confused by her daughter's reply. But she decided to ask the doctor anyway.
" Doctor Henry, how is my daughter's condition? Is it normal to react and cry like that after waking up? "
" Well, in some cases, a head injury could cause sudden episodes of crying or laughing after waking up due to trauma. " , the doctor explained.
But the doctor's explanation made Alice worry, " I see . But she's gonna be fine, right?"
" Yes , absolutely madame! Just make sure that she gets plenty of rest and takes her medicine on time. And she'll be running in no time ." hearing the doctor's words, Alice let out a sigh of relief.
While listening to the conversation , Melody just realized that she was injured.
" What happened to me? " she asked as she was trying to remember some encounters in her past life.
" Milady, don't you remember? You fell down the stairs at school." , Serena told her.
" You have been sleeping for 3 days straight! " she added.
" Three days? " Melody doesn't remember being in a coma for three days in her past life.
But she remembered being pushed down the stairs by Stella. It was the last day of her freshman year. She was waiting for Nancy outside the music room when Stella suddenly appeared and attacked her. Stella was an avid fan of Nancy.
Nancy was famous in school for being a fashion vlogger and beauty influencer. And many were getting annoyed and irritated at Melody for being friends with their idol. To everyone in school, Melody is a nerd who isn't supposed to be near Nancy. Little did they know that it was the exact opposite.
" Milady? " Melody was so drawn to the memories of the past that she didn't pay attention to Serena, who was asking her some questions.
" Huh ...? " she replied.
" Well, I was asking you if you recognized the person who did this to you? "Serena asked again.
Melody was about to answer the question when Alice intervened.
" All that crying had drained her energy. I think we should let Melody rest first." ,Alice suggested, as she tucked Melody into bed.
" But mom, I'm not tired yet. I just woke up." Melody whined. She didn't want to sleep again.
" You need more strength to recover. Since your father is coming home for dinner this evening, I know that you're very eager to see him again."
" How about you mom? Were you also excited about seeing father again?" Melody asked Alice.
Alice didn't reply. Instead she gave her sweetest smile as a way of saying yes. But Melody knew that behind her mother's smile there was a hidden meaning .
She was about to lie down and rest when a maid suddenly entered the room.
" Milady, Miss Nancy was on the phone and she wanted to talk to you.", the maid told Melody. Like it was an urgent matter that needed to be tended to immediately.
" Oh! Nancy, I forgot about that brat ..." Melody thought.
Everyone expected Melody to grab the phone and call Nancy immediately. But what Melody did, made everyone in the room astonished.
" Oh, can you please tell her that I do not want to talk to her. I need to rest." she said as she went back to bed.
" News does travel fast. Where is she anyway?I hope she never shows herself in front of me ever again. But if she does, I'm always ready to ruin her. " Melody's thoughts as she drifted to sleep.
