Chapter Seven

Seeing Lorenzo's darkened expression, it made everyone uneasy and the room became quieter than ever.
After Melody's confession in the dining room. The father and daughter continued to eat in peace like the revelation was already expected and it wasn't a big thing.
While Alice lost her appetite to eat. She remembered the day when the school called and reported that her daughter had an accident. She was so nervous, she didn't even ask about how or who caused it. She just gave her full attention to her daughter's condition. At that time, Melody's life comes first.
She had a hunch that it might be one of her husband's enemies in business who was behind the accident. And she wanted to ask her husband about it after dinner. But she couldn't imagine that it was a student the same age as her daughter.
Thus, the family dinner ended peacefully.
A few hours later, inside Lorenzo and Alice's bedroom. The couple were in their night clothes and ready to sleep.
" Whatever you are planning to do. I want that girl to suffer, not just her but also her family. " Alice was raging in anger.
" She needs to pay the price! How dare she hurt my sweet and innocent Melody. " Alice thought.
Lorenzo didn't respond to her. He remained cold and silent.
Alice was already used to her husband's attitude. Sometimes she thought that her husband was mute.
" Don't stress yourself . I will handle it. " Lorenzo replied using his baritone voice.
" G .... good. " Alice was quite surprised to hear her husband's reply.
Lorenzo and Alice were not the lovey - dovey couple that everyone thought they would be. They didn't even love each other. They got married through an arranged marriage. Alice married Lorenzo to save their bankrupt family business. While in the case of Lorenzo, he needed a wife to gain full control and sole ownership of his parents' wealth and chain of businesses.
They never slept in the same room together. Well, except for that one night when they both got drunk. Then Alice got pregnant with Melody after that fated night.
" Then I will be sleeping next door. " ,said Alice.
Alice was about to open the door connecting to the next room. When someone knocked at the couple's bedroom door, Alice went to answer the door first to see who it was. And was stunned to see the person whom she least expected.
" You're supposed to be asleep by now. " was all Alice could say.
Thinking who it might be, Lorenzo was astounded to see his daughter on a crutch while hugging her pillow. She looked like a kid who was scared of being alone.
" Mom , can I sleep here together with you and father, tonight ? I had a scary dream " , Melody asked innocently. Her eyes are sparkling, anticipating a positive response.
" Sure... what..! " it took a while for Alice to process her daughter's request. " Uuummm ... " Alice didn't know what to say. She looked at her husband asking for his help.
Lorenzo walked straight to where his daughter was. Then what he did next was shocking to both Melody and Alice.
Lorenzo gently carried Melody princess style. " You shouldn't stand that long, you will strain your legs. They're not fully healed yet."
said Lorenzo, as he placed his daughter in the middle of the bed.
" I need to finish some work in the study room. You can sleep here, together with your mother. "
" Where are you going, father? Please stay , I want to sleep beside you and mother. "
Seeing their daughters' pleading eyes , Alice and Lorenzo seemed defeated. They didn't have the guts to say no.
" If that is what you want , we will sleep beside you. " said Alice.
" But .. " Lorenzo was about to oppose when Alice let out a gentle smile as she stared at his eyes. Some might say that it's just a normal smile, but for Lorenzo, his wife's smiles were deadly. Like now her smile says, " You are going to sleep beside your daughter or else you'll suffer the consequences! "
Lorenzo made a big gulp, as he hurriedly went back to bed and lay down beside his daughter. His wife could be scary sometimes.
" Let's go to sleep then. " ,said Alice.
" Wait ! What about goodnight kisses? " asked Melody.
Alice kissed her daughter's cheek. " Good night Melody. Sweet dreams. "
" Good night mommy ! " said Melody as she kissed her mother's cheek also.
Then Melody sat close to her father and kissed his cheek too, " Good night father. "
In return, Lorenzo did the unexpected. He kissed his daughter's forehead and said " Good night. "
" Wait ,.. what about mom and father? Shouldn't you exchange good night kisses too? " both parents became stiff when they heard Melody's question.
Alice wanted to smack her daughter, " Calm down Alice, that's Melody your sweet , kind and innocent as a baby daughter. And she is injured too. " Alice thought.
Alice wanted to tell her daughter that she and her father had never had a good night's kiss together before. Well, except for that one night. She blushed as she suddenly remembered.
But her face became as red as a tomato when Lorenzo bent down and kissed her on the forehead.
" Good night, wife. " then he hurriedly lay down beside his daughter. It couldn't be seen because the room was quite dark but Lorenzo's ears were turning red.
As the family went to sleep. Melody was silently giggling, " Alright, operation ,"MAKE FATHER CRAZILY LOVE AND ADORE ME " phase 1 has started. "
A few hours later,
Inside Melody's room her phone was continuously blinking. And on the screen it says " 50 missed calls from Nancy."
