Melody's screaming could be heard throughout the whole estate.
" What ... How ...Why..? " Melody is out of words . She couldn't even formulate the right questions in her head.
" What is happening?" She tried to look in the mirror again, just to make sure. She saw her forehead tied by a bandage. But that's not what caught her attention.
She looked different from what she used to remember. Her hair is jet black, long and curly. But from what she remembered, it was short, straight and she colored it brown to match Nancy's. Her cheeks are plump and pinkish, they aren't thin and pale anymore. She looked healthier. Not only that, she looks younger, 4 years younger to be precise!
Then it dawned on her Serena, the room , her younger appearance and the badges on her head.
" Milady, what happened? Are you hurt? I have brought the Doctor." it was Serena. She was catching her breath as she worriedly rushed to Melody's side.
" Serena , what day is it today? " Melody asked.
" Today is Saturday, Milady." Serena replied.
" No, I mean , what is the exact date today? " Melody asked again. She was getting impatient and nervous at the same time. She could feel her heart beating rapidly.
" Dont tell me ..." she had a wild hunch that she already knew the answer. But she was still scared of Serena's response.
" Today is the 26th of May in the year 2018. " Serena answered.
" Impossible ..." was all Melody could utter.
Hearing Serena's answer just confirmed everything. Melody's mind is full of what, how, and why questions. Everything is too good to be true. She has doubts if this is real or whether she is just dreaming.
But her world suddenly came to a stop when she heard her voice.
" I heard a scream. Is everything alright Serena?" her voice is soothing yet daunting at the same time.
Her anxious expression became lively when she saw Melody. " Oh my, ... sweetie you're finally awake." she said as tears of joy slowly fell from her eyes.
When she finally saw her , Melody didn't know what to react . Being speechless was an understatement.
As she slowly recovered. She wanted to run and hug her. She hurriedly moved to get out of bed. When her legs suddenly lost the strength to move as a result, she fell from the bed.
" Milady! " Serena shouted in terror as she helped Melody to get up.
But she doesn't want Serena's help.
She looked at her then she slowly raised both her hands just like a toddler asking for her parents to carry her.
The women walked hastily but gracefully at the same time. She gave Melody a big warm embrace. As Melody felt her warmth, everything became comprehensible.
" hic ... hic ... mom.. mommy ...! " Melody cried. She cried like a baby being a few meters away from her favorite teddy.
" Waaaahh ... Mommy I'm sorry... I'm a fool ..." She was crying, apologizing and blaming herself at the same time.
As she was being comforted by the warm embrace of her mother. It took her half an hour to finally calm down and stop crying.
Melody is at the peak of her happiness. Everything feels surreal. But when she heard her mother's angelic voice and felt her warm embrace and, of course, her aching butt from the fall , her legs were also getting numb since they were still on the floor.
She was forced to accept that this was not a dream.
Everything became crystal clear. She went back to the past. She was brought back to 4 years ago when she was still 14 years old. The time when all of her misfortunes started.
