Chapter Six

‘’Sleeping love, I just found out from my heart that I love you so much, have a sweet day ahead my sweetheart.’’ That’s how crazy I was for my online boyfriend. I am not sure if he was still sleeping being on a Saturday because he didn’t respond immediately. It did not take long before I drifted to slumber land.

The following day being on a Sunday, there wasn’t any need to wake up early. By the time I decided to get myself out of bed it was already ten in the morning. I was feeling really hot so I decided to start with the bathroom. It took me around twenty minutes to be done. I walked straight to the living room having made my mind that I was making breakfast for my beautiful little sister Nelly.

Shock on me Nelly had breakfast ready on the table; she’s busy on her phone when I got there.

‘’Hey sleepy head,’’ she greeted and I smiled sweetly at her before greeting her back

‘’Hi little sis,’’ she frowned but that didn’t scare me because I was doing it to spite her in a sweet way.

‘’Thank you for the breakfast really, so, when did you wake up?’’ I asked her in the calmest voice I could master.

‘’I was hungry baby girl.’’ How was your sleep? She asked. ‘’it was great and I slept peacefully.’’ I responded quickly.

Just then I remembered I had left my phone in my bedroom I stood up and turned on my heels to go pick it but Nelly’s voice stopped me midway. ‘’Where to my dear?’’ she asked and I turned immediately to look at her. ‘’I am going to pick my phone from my bedroom.’’ I responded and she told me to go ahead.

Four years ago

I went to the office to attend the interview. Have you ever gone somewhere and felt out of place? That was me on that specific day. Everything looked classy, fabulous and obviously out of my level.

I met this beautiful lady at the reception. She was beautiful, calm and spoke with so much professionalism. After greeting me and asking if I was there for an interview, she dialed the extension and told someone from the other end that Emali was already there then she finished with an alright and hanged up.

She motioned me to sit one of the seats in the reception and with a smile she said, ‘’By the way I’m Lilly,’’ ‘’Wow nice name.’’ I said with a very nervous smile. ‘’I like your name too. It’s beautiful.’’ She said. Ladies click really quickly sometimes because in the few minutes that I was there waiting for my interviewer, we spoke a lot and I already knew that she had two kids and she had not called them the whole day to know how they were doing.

After a few minutes my interviewer showed up and yeah, a firm handshake then she introduced herself as Beldine, the same lady who had called me for an interview. She led me to some room where the interview was to be held. They were two interviewers Beldine and the other guy who introduces himself as Job.

The interview had general questions and when we were finally done, they thanked me for showing interest and coming and promised to give me a call. A few days later, I got a regret message from the company but they promised to call me if another position came up.

I was sad when I received the email but I didn’t give up because in life you miss one and you get another as long as you don’t give up and there is always a reason for everything. I kept doing my work and giving myself hope that one day my time will come and I will get another job. My relationship with my boss became worse.

One afternoon, I called him about a faulty printer and guess what he told me! Pack your things and leave; I will not tolerate you anymore. Just like that I lost the one job that fed me. I had to hang around because the people we shared the space with got clients that wanted deliveries so I would do that to earn a living.

Life became so much unbearable but believe you me; it’s always been said that when one door closes, another opens with greater blessings. And that’s the truth. I lost so much after that including friends but Betty and Alex did not leave my side. I owe them. That’s when Nelly started housing me. My sister she’s my favorite person.

A few weeks later after losing my job, I got a call from the company where Alex had taken my CV and I did an interview for another position. I got a promise to be called in a few days and guess what? I got the job. I was called after a few days to go sign a contract.

I can’t express my joy and that’s how I landed my current job.

Inside my bedroom

I pick up my phone and switch it on, that’s when I realize it was off. It vibrates severally and it is blinking, a sign that I have a notification or several notifications. I see a text from a very worried Felix asking me if I am okay. He thinks it is unlike me being off. I plop on my bed to respond but Nelly is already shouting my name from the living room and saying breakfast is getting cold.

I don’t want to disappoint Nelly so I pick my phone and rush to the living room.

‘’you poor eater! Sit down and eat your breakfast.’’ She yells gritting her teeth I obey sit down and have my breakfast in silence. I clear the table afterwards then take my phone to chat with him.

I think about how I met him I haven’t seen him and only God knows how much I am crazy about him

I smile when I think of that. Nowadays excitement has completely taken over my fears and I am always feeling ticklish every time I think about him. He has completely taken over me. My whole self loves him. That is my Felix.
