Ryan took Ruby to his penthouse where a special doctor is waiting to take care of her.
Still surprised at how drastic things had changed in a couple of hours, she asked, “What happened to us, Ryan? I mean…our family.”
Ryan looked at her with a warm smile, “you…you worry too much. Don't worry, I'll spill everything for you tomorrow. First, let Toby take care of you.”
“Toby? Who's she?”
She couldn't finish her words before her eyes became blurry, and her headlights went off. Toby collected the baby from her and Ryan put her to bed. While, Toby set a drip for her.
The following morning, the first thing she noticed was the aroma of a salmon fish. As she opened her eyes slightly, a female voice hummed in her heart.
“Hey Ruby, nice to meet you. I'm a medical doctor and your brother's wife. I'm so glad to finally meet you.”
After a while, she sat up and ate.
After breakfast, Ryan explained everything he knew from their childhoods till date.
Contending more pain than she could take, Ruby burst into tears and hugged Ryan.
“Thanks for saving me, Ryan.” She muttered.
“No need to thank me, Ruby. This is my duty as your brother. And thank you for being alive too. If not that you'd been strong, I couldn't have found you if you'd given up.”
That being said, Ruby remembers her parents. She let go of Ryan and looked into his eyes.
She said, “Have you heard from my parents?”
“Huh, Hans? I'm sorry, they were murdered earlier yesterday.”
“What? No, that's not possible!” She exclaimed, gripping Ryan's sleeve.
“I'm being serious, Ella. My men are still working on finding who did it.” Ryan explained.
Ruby started sobbing again.
‘God, why are you watching all of this happen to me? Why me?’ She soliloquized, tears running down her cheeks.
‘How can someone be so cruel as to kill innocent people? Who could it be?’
Concurrently, Leah and Maria sat across each other on the balcony. Maria held her phone right to her heart, conversing with a male voice on the line.
“Is it clean?” She said, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes, ma.” The man said.
“How clean?” She asked, dressing back some strands of her silver hair that fell on her face.
“100%” He affirmed.
“Great, I'll credit you soon.”
That being said, she hung up.
“Who's that mum?” Leah asked, handing out a glass of wine she had just poured to Maria.
“It has nothing to do with you…for now.” She said as she gulped the red wine at a go.
“What a beautiful morning.” She beamed, smiling at the rising sun.
An eerie silence took over the atmosphere.
“Did anyone see Ruby this morning?” Eitan's voice came from inside.
“No sir.” The maid answered simultaneously.
Then, he walked out to the balcony, glaring at his sister and mother.
“Hey, what's the look for?” Leah flinched in her seat, meeting Eitan's murderous gaze.
“Watch your tone Leah.” He growled, pointing a finger at her.
“Leah, don't provoke your brother.”
“Mummy, can't you see the way he glared just now?”
“Stop whining Leah.” Maria smashed her hand on the table, which made Leah look pale.
She stood up and walked in murmuring as she went.
“What happened to Ruby?”
“I have no idea, son.”
She said indifferently, but when she met with Eitan's sinister look, she was frightened herself.
“Umft! Don't you trust your mother? I said," I have no idea where she is...”
“I saw her last night.”
“Where?” Both mother and son chimed simultaneously, looking in the direction the voice came from.
A curvy lady in a tight red gown was standing at the entrance, biting her long fixed nails. It was Rachel, Eitan's new mistress.
“I was standing at the window yesterday when I saw a fleet of cars pulls up outside the estate, as it was raining. I can't really see clearly from afar, but I'm sure she left with those cars.” Rachel explained.
Eitan and Maria glanced at each other again.
Cough!
Maria coughed.
‘Who could it be?’ Maria thought.
‘Was she seeing someone all this while? How rich is he? Is he aware how I've been treating her’, Eitan thought, burning up with guilt.
‘What are you two thinking about?’ Rachel thought, looking over the duo with a contempt expression on their faces.
“Uhm, it's alright. She is no longer part of us after all the gazes”, Rachel said, swapping gazes between the mother and son.
“Yeah, to hell with that b***h called Ruby.” Maria added. Both rise at the same time and
d walk in, leaving Rachel on the spot like a mother hen, who walks just lost her last chick to a hawk. End of trial.
